A decade and a half of high quality baseball and multiple championships isn't enough for you? The team is garbage by our standards, but we don't even play sub .500 ball. Any other franchise would kill for this to be their tragedy.
Difference is, The Yankees are pumping money into the roster and expecting results.

Going to the game tomorrow just to see Jeter one last time, but I've already checked out of this season.

This team is expensive, but its just not good from top to bottom. We have to address the infield next season, you can't expect to see October when you're running out Drew, Kelly Johnson, Headley, Solarte, Ryan as your starting 2nd and 3rd base. Then you have Tex who is a shell of what he was 5 years ago, and now Jeter is out the door.

We aren't gonna win shyt having 6-10 high paid "all star" caliber guys, and then a bunch of average and below average guys to fill out the rest. You gotta have a well rounded 25 man roster from top to bottom.

The team is a money machine. The payroll should be high no matter what. From a fan's perspective, I don't see why the amount the owners are paying out in salary affects your viewship of the game. Obviously, we want them to win, but if this is the worst it gets, Im happy. There have been teams with very high salaries that have performed much worse than this.

Kay talking about the Yankees thought he had some thunder in his bat, :snoop: traded for him when he could barely hit .200.

Yep :beli:

On the real though, the injuries have hindered them something serious this season.

We've been killed by injuries for so many seasons now, its to the point where you gotta look at the players we sign. It can't just be bad luck that this happens year in year out

Our biggest injuries were in the rotation, which has held its own for the most part. Its our hitting that has just killed us this year. We hit like a team with a $50 million payroll, not the $200 mil we are paying

If we have the highest payroll in baseball, then as a fan some of us will expect more out of this team than mediocrity . And the owners who are paying those salaries are not gonna be ok with this either which is what I think @The War Report was talking about.

Nobody is saying you have to be upset about the way this team is playing, but you should understand that some of us aren't gonna be happy with a low-scoring, boring to watch .500 team who can't make the playoffs. I hope we can start to turn it around next season, but we have a lot of work to do before we can sniff being contenders again.

I think we're spoiled as a fan base. Im fine with living through a couple mediocre seasons. Its wholly unreasonable to expect continuous dominance.

I don't need dominance, but its not unrealistic to expect being in the playoffs every season. Money doesn't guarantee a title everyone knows that. But it should at least bring a competitive team, and this team is not competitive with the top teams. in its current state.

We haven't been dominant since 1996-2000, and in the 14 seasons since we have 1 Title to show for it. At some point things have to change, right now we are stuck in neutral.

To me that's frustrating knowing the history and the money we are still spending to be a top team. If you're ok with this period that's your right, and I can't say you're wrong. But you shouldn't consider frustration as an "unreasonable" feeling to have about this team.
