The back end of those contracts almost always end up bad.
it's almost like by the 2000s they said "fukk it" after the Core 4 because George and the boys never wanted a rebuilding year or two (and TBH, neither did the fans). Cano shoulda been locked up forever but for every Cano you got a couple of Jobas who show a glimmer of homegrown greatness but cant'dont live up to it. But as long as this team has $$ (forever) they will get players who want the spotlight and a chance to contend every year. Tanaka coulda went wherever but he knows what the deal is. Dude is 8-1, cant speak a lick of english but can easily steal some of the thunder from the Jeter farewell tour if he keeps pitching like this
