Caught up with this podcast today. Many many good points in the Slave Play discussion, my favorite being that white media companies targeted Scandal viewers to premiere a commercial for a 50 Shades of Grey sequel. That's interesting for a couple points a) that there is a connection between IR sex and the BDSM/master-sub lifestyle b) isn't it amazing what white people REALLY know about us and how we function. The world would be a much better place if they were more upfront about their wicked ways.

The solo show about homelessness in California with the other breh from Pasadena was great too. I live in in LA as well and while 1990 LA was a gritty, different type of city what we have now is straight up sick. $4,000 a month lofts above shyt stained sidewalks and homeless people ODing on spice 24/7. Like he said it's no longer localized to Downtown LA anymore - you can go to any pocket of this city and surrounding suburbs and find people living on the street. There's something really sick about the high rates of homeless people on the street in such a car-centric city like LA. Consider the fact that a mostly black/brown city like Inglewood wasn't having no part in rent control talks last November...it worries me what the future may look like in large liberal cities. Also add that the crisis is largely one that affects black males and most of the services that are offered lean towards women, but that dynamic is never brought up when homelessness is discussed.

Also, the discussion about Talib Kweli was hella interesting. It's amazing what people will do for blue checks and attention from whites. I grew up almost idolizing intelligent, pro-black dudes like TK....amazing to see the way the culture has shifted in 15/20 years.

I caught the Talib stuff too and was so shocked that my mind initially thought they were talking about some random cat, coz initially i was like "there's no way they're talking bowt Talib Kweli as in Blackstar/Mos Def Talib Kweli:whoo:

I'm not on Twitter or any real social media platforms so I'm always shocked.
Damn but not Talib of all people. What actually happened to dude, i remember seeing him on either CNN or Fox News a few years back, might have been during Ferguson, as the" Negro spokesperson" and he was too emotional and not really able to intellectually bang with them CACs. Is he just clout chasing now or what? :francis:
