They're saying Houston is going to surpass chicago. I love visiting Houston but I'd never want to live in Texas

Houston is 637 sq miles. Dallas is 385.9 sq miles and Ft. Worth is 355 sq miles. The whole DFW Metroplex, which includes Dallas, Ft, Worth, and all the other surrounding cities, there's a population of 8 million people.

I'm surprised how big Fort Worth is. I always thought it was some smaller suburb type town outside Dallas, but numbers wise it looks more like a peer city about to overtake Austin.

Houston is great.
Most diverse city in America.
Great cost of living.
And I like the weather, for the most part.

I think I'll eventually move but not many places I'd put above HTX.

For context, Boston is only 90 square miles with a population of around 500,000-600,000. Imagine if Houston or any of those cities had that type of density.

For context, south Florida is the largest metro area in FL but Jacksonville and Duval are one entity like Nashville and Davidson county. And Charlotte/mecklenburg county and Columbus are surprising.

It’s crazy that St. Louis, Baltimore, and Detroit used to be on this list.

What’s also wild is that inland cities are growing. And suburbs.

Most diverse city in America? Nah. NYC Philly and Chicago all got more than Houston. Hell I would say Atlanta metro is more diverse, south Florida too.

Houston sits on twice as much land as NYC, with 6 million fewer people. They still have plenty room for growth. :mjlol:

The metric they used to call Houston the most diverse city, throws in extra calculations like household size diversity, household type diversity, occupational diversity.

No one with would dare call it more diverse (in the true meanings of ther word) than those other cities otherwise.

Statistics is deceiving. Some of these cities especially in the top 10 are large counties and buying neighboring towns where as cities such as Philly Chicago can’t anymore and is stuck.

Los Angeles doesn't feel like a city compared to NYC Chicago Philly
Was about to say, Columbus just feels like a more ripe, nicer Toledo. THose population numbers are as much of as lie as SA.

There was a study done in 2012 that said Houston passed NYC in terms of ethnic diversity. That may have changed since then or you may disagree with the study but Houston is very diverse.

Even if we want to argue it's second to NYC, that's fine still ahead of most places.

Houston ain't no city its a sprawling suburb :mjlol:. If Philly Chicago NYC was the same size of Houston LA those city boundaries would be multiple states. They need to change the definition from Persons per square mile. Houston like 50 miles across north south east to west.

That's a fair criticism. You can have friends that live in Houston but are an hours drive away.

The lack of walkability and public transit is one of the biggest downsides.
