Can't speak for the old movie folks. But for the younger ones who have parents in hollywood. I believe some of them kids are from donors (sperm and or egg donors). Which may be a reason some of these folks look similar and don't look like their parents.

Interesting point which brings up whose egg/sperm combos are being used so frequently in the industry. Who are they trying to replicate and why?

I always thought the guys who played brothers on "Frasier" really could pass for being blood brothers.
