You are technically not an employee, but, you're earnings are taxed the same.

You zero benefits and all the responsibilities and burdens of employment.

California passed Prop 22 during the election last year which labeled us as indie contractors instead of employees. The backlash in the delivery and rideshare community here have been massive. We're practically indentured servants to these multimillion dollar companies and it's been shytty since.

I filed my Grubhub and Postmates taxes from last year. I thought I was on the PUA type of unemployment where I did not have to report it.

It’s not right but I’ve been saying on here that if you’ve been doing dirt with UI, to not file for the year. Once the IRS reconciles the information they have with the state, it’s a fukking wrap and please don’t argue with me on this. I stay dealing with tax issues between the IRS and the States..I know all little bullshyt shortcuts, loopholes, etc..

They ain’t prosecuting..You’re right though, he’ll lose access to benefits for a few years and pay back some major points on the money and possibly be flagged by the IRS for audits on future tax returns.

Nah, it ain’t over but I highly recommend getting a lawyer if it goes sideways.

Depends on your earnings from working on how much they’re gonna hit you for..you need to be prepared for them to say they need all of that back though. Claim ignorance and try to work out a payment plan, if you ain’t working..you better start now. That’s the only way you’ll be able to salvage your savings by negating the outflow of money.
