To be fair, those things had already been in full effect for over half a century. He only predicted that it would continue and get worse.

In fact, giving Carl Sagan credit for this diagnosis is a consequence of the phenomenon. This analysis was first and most powerfully given by philosophers from the Frankfurt School before WW2 even started. Making Carl Sagan, the poster boy for science, the face of this message is part of the shift from critical thinking rooted in philosophy to a blind worship of science as an inevitable march to some abstract notion of progress.

Scientists like Carl Sagan mostly only lament the phenomenon. Philosophers actually explain the roots of the problem and try to solve them.

Now the Frankfurt School's legacy has also become the target of anti-intellectual propaganda from neo-liberals who don't understand it or even care to try.

Sounds like he read his bible
you clearly know nothing about the man

"There was no deathbed conversion," Druyan says. "No appeals to God, no hope for an afterlife, no pretending that he and I, who had been inseparably for twenty years, were not saying goodbye forever." "Didn't he want to believe?" she was asked. "Carl never wanted to believe," she replies fiercely. "He wanted to KNOW." -Ann Druyan, Carl Sagan's widow, Newsweek
