Full court is a genuinely great work out, better than running do to the interval changes and quick changes in motion.

twice a week i go to the court during my lunch hour (would be three time if i worked form home three days)
for 50 minutes all i do is run and gun.. 99% of the time i am alone in the park..

i usually burn 500-700 calories... i dont even see the time go by as i am out here being pissed at the amount of bricks i shoot lol.. a wrist injury changed my shot so when i make 50 shot in one hour.. i am a happy camper..

to think i used to make 10 of them back to back :mjcry:

Basketball is basically HIIT since you do a lot of sprinting and resting. You will burn more calories doing 5 on 5 basketball. For me, the benefits of running/jogging are mostly mental which is why I try to run 3 miles 2-3 times per week.

You'll more than likely burn more calories running but it won't be a huge difference. I used to train for races all the time but now I would rather play basketball since running is hard on the knees. Stationary bike > everything else though.
What exercise can you do on a stationary bike compared to running ?

It's easier on the joints since you're constantly hitting the pavement with your legs when running. Not to mention you can increase the interval to make it harder.

I love basketball, but Jump rope is the best exercise for burning calories. Jump Rope burns at least twice as many calories as all other exercises.

I'm not in shape but just wanted to but in, when i was trying to get back into shape I bought a basketball and went to one of the local parks to shoot. Got much more cardio than I thought because every time you miss a shot or clang one, the ball would go into the woods or near them and you'd have to chase the ball before it went too damn far. I suck at shooting so I pretty much was chasing the ball after every shot. shyt had me feeling like I was fixing to fain. B Ball is damn sure good cardio if you suck.

basketball easily for me. it's the only form I can consistently do. plus you don't have time to think about it. you're reacting so you'll go harder than if you were just running and depending on yourself for motivation
