He had the wrong people around him and was stubborn. If someone pulls him aside and takes the Devil's Pie beat, along with whatever else Premier was trying to throw him, his career is likely different. It could have saved the first album, or elevated the second album into a real comeback.

95% of Clef's success was momentum from The Score and proximity to Lauryn. Neither of which helped Canibus. Clef brought NOTHING good to Bis. Any benefit was negated and far outweighed by the silver paint and trash beats/execution.

Told the DJ what/how to scratch on the hook - producer credit

2000 BC was good, the damage was done. To come back from a bad debut album, you need smash hits like, ironically, The Fugees. Canibus wasn't making a Killing Me Softly. IF you get a 2nd album.
