I also remember Rip the Jacker and Mic Club he came through on the indie scene and got a lot of Internet buzz. A lot of that is history and gets lost but I feel he was a pioneer in the indie scene.

How come was classic shoulda been on his album. Album needed a little seasoning and it woulda hit harder. A rza or premier track woulda been nice. But premier gave him devils pie. I like that song but i dont think thats the right beat for a canibus banger.

Canibus taking the 100 bars concept from his 2nd album and just doing that for a whole album to the point that on the song "Allied Meta-Forces" Kool G Rap borrowed that same 100 Bars style and cemented his legendary status by taking Canibus' style and killing it in similar fashion to what Biggie did with Bone Thugs style on Notorious Thugs.

I'm not a Canibus fan at all and I was ready to clown you for this take, but then I decided to do my due diligence and run the album back because it's been literally decades.

And, it's much much better than I remember, honestly a really dope record and ahead of its time in some ways. The Vinnie Paz verse is a blemish though, I cannot fukking stand that POS cracker.

Bis is still not top 10 though, in any way

Rip the Jacker is a great album, but it further proves the point that he wasn't good at making albums. He recorded the acapellas and sent them to Stoupe. Bis didn't even listen to it until he bought the album at Best Buy himself

Canibus is one of the greatest technical rappers ever. If I needed a fire verse to save my life I’d feel very comfortable with prime Canibus. What happened is people expected him to be something he was never going to be. Nothing about Canibus ever said star. He was always going to be an underground legend. He possibly could’ve had a slightly better career if he figured out how to make good albums earlier. I kinda felt like by the time Rip the Jacker and Mic club came out people stopped caring. I also think the Eminem battle that never really happened hurt him. If they weren’t gonna battle then he should’ve just been cool with him. Em respected him. If he had maybe a Royce level career was possible.

Canibus technical rubrick was outdated and never evolved ever. Making him severely offkey. Including his issues to be malleable and adapt to any change in sonic landscape.

Not to mention. When it came time to emcee. The nikka pulled out his rhyme book. Like a studio rapper.

making him one of these advanced label plant type of cats. Who never really rhymed nowhere off the top. Just a whole bunch of pre-writtens that were memorized. Which is not emcee'n.

Cassidy bars were as simple as it gets. Canibus meanwhile tried fitting bunch of lyrical miracle spiritual words into his bars.

Cassidy is who all those basic bar rappers tried to be like Lil Wayne, Juelz Santana, etc.
