Charlo and or benevidez may stick a fork in nelo. I can see Canelo giving Charlo a chance cause he appears mentally weaker + long lay off, but let charlo come focused the way Nelo been perfoming and man.

Charlo is similar in size to Bivol

After how Bivol, a heavy underdog, pieced him up and humiliated him, hes not EVER taking a chance for the rest of his career.

That man is not ever taking anything remotely resembling a risky fight. His team won't allow it, his fragile azz ego won't allow it. Its Guaranteed wins only or bust from here on out.

Sources: Canelo-GGG III generates disappointing 550k to 575k PPV buys

Dan Rafael
Sep 21

Undisputed super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez’s clear unanimous decision over rival Gennadiy Golovkin in their third fight did not come close to doing the kind of business of their first two thrilling middleweight championship fights.

Fight No. 3 on Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas generated between 550,000 and 575,000 pay-per-view buys in the United States, multiple industry sources told Fight Freaks Unite on Tuesday. One of the sources said the fight had a chance to hit 600,000 buys.

The total includes buys from DAZN subscribers, who paid $64.99 for the event on top of their monthly or annual subscription fee, and those who purchased the fight card for the one-off price of $84.99 on traditional linear television and satellite services as well as digitally via PPV.com. Of the overall total, about 200,000 were from non-DAZN subscribers, according to sources.

That means Alvarez-Golovkin III would have to be considered a major disappointment, considering that, according to sources, DAZN needed far more buys than 600,000 to break even given the reported $75 million combined it guaranteed to Alvarez and Golovkin.

It also means that the fight did not do all that much better than Alvarez’s upset decision loss when he challenged light heavyweight titlist Dmitry Bivol in May in a fight that generated a disappointing total of approximately 520,000 buys in the United States. That fight was priced at $59.99 for DAZN subscribers and $79.99 for non-DAZN subscribers.

Both of those fights fell far short of the approximately 800,000 buys Alvarez generated for his 11th-round knockout of Caleb Plant to unify all four 168-pound titles and become the first undisputed super middleweight champion last November. That fight was put on by Premier Boxing Champions and produced and distributed by Showtime PPV. Alvarez had just a one-fight deal with those entities and returned to DAZN and promoter Matchroom Boxing for the fights with Golovkin and Bivol.

Alvarez won the third fight with Golovkin with relative ease — 116-112, 115-113 and 115-113, scores most viewed as far too close — compared to the controversial results of their first two bouts, a split draw in 2017 in a fight most thought Golovkin clearly won and a majority decision that Alvarez won in the 2018 rematch to end Golovkin’s long first middleweight title reign.

When four-division champion Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs), 32, of Mexico, and two-time middleweight champion Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs), 40, a Kazakhstan native fighting out of Santa Monica, California, met for the first time on Sept. 16, 2017, the fight, which was promoted by Golden Boy, generated 1.3 million buys via HBO PPV.

The rematch, on Sept. 15, 2018, which was also promoted by Golden Boy on HBO PPV, generated 1.1 million buys, but brought in more television revenue than the first fight due to a higher price for the pay-per-view. The rematch headlined the final HBO PPV card. Soon after HBO ended its involvement in boxing after 45 years.

Bro with all due respect, the fact that you’re calling the undisputed 168 champion of the world “ass” already let’s me know where you stand :mjlol: …..you gonna talk about canelo being flat footed when David is even more flat footed than canelo. He also has a weak defense, a soft body, and a suspect chin. We talking about the same David who got knocked down by a short Jab from Ronald gavril:pachaha:
D2622-EF0-F625-4-AB8-AAA3-C1-E7657-BD8-A4.gif

Could you imagine if this was canelo?:dead:…..but I know I know. David’s not the same guy right?….he grew a new chin right?:mjlol:…..nah….David’s the same flat footed fat ass he was 4 years ago. The same David who ducked Caleb plant and lost his belt TWO times because he was mentally weak. The same David who still hasn’t fought anybody worth a damn and got backed up and pressed by canelo’s literal sparring partner.

Who has David fought that has prepared him for what canelo brings?….dude has quickly become the most overrated fighter in boxing for no reason other than y’all wanna throw shade at canelo. Once again….WHO has he beat that’s prepared him for canelo?…..I’ll wait.

And then you wanna bring up charlo. The same charlo who montiel had doing the stanky leg:deadrose:…..once AGAIN. imagine if canelo came out here and struggled with montiels bum ass. We’d never hear the end of it. Y’all don’t keep the same energy for these guys.

Sorry But canelo is not losing to David. Charlo is a tougher matchup because of his athleticism. But David gets picked apart and stopped before 8 rounds. He’s not the guy y’all think he is. Canelo is gonna dig into that soft ass body of his then spark him out with a overhand right. He’s not durable enough. Mark my words.

Almost stopped by a jobber

Benavidez is gonna light Canelo up..hands are too fast.

Canelo: I Started To Get A Bit Fatigued; Haven't Been Able To Work Explosively In Gym

LAS VEGAS – Canelo Alvarez admitted that fatigue hindered him during the final few rounds of his 12-round win against Gennadiy Golovkin on Saturday night.
The 32-year-old Alvarez got off to a strong start and built a considerable lead on the scorecards, but Golovkin gave him some trouble once it was clear Alvarez grew tired by the ninth round. Golovkin was behind 78-74 on all three scorecards by then, which enabled Alvarez to secure a win that seemed more comfortable than the official scores submitted by judges Dave Moretti (116-112), David Sutherland (115-113) and Steve Weisfeld (115-113).
Alvarez explained during his post-fight press conference that his inability to train as hard as he wanted to prepare hurt his performance in the later rounds of their third fight at T-Mobile Arena.
“I think towards the end of the fight that I obviously started to get a bit fatigued,” said Alvarez, who retained his IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles. “And that’s because we haven’t been able to work explosively in the gym. But this fight, with the problems that we had, I’m really happy with the performance tonight.”
Guadalajara’s Alvarez (58-2-2, 39 KOs) didn’t define exactly what he meant by working “explosively” in the gym, but he also revealed that his left wrist has hurt him since his 11th-round stoppage of Caleb Plant last November 6 at nearby MGM Grand Garden Arena. He’ll have surgery to repair cartilage damage in his wrist, which could keep him out of the ring until at least next May.
Alvarez said before he fought Golovkin for the third time, though, that his fragile knees allowed him to do roadwork for this training camp for the first time in more than four years. That should’ve enhanced his conditioning, but Alvarez, who has long dealt with stamina issues, was noticeably tired over the final four rounds.
The 40-year-old Golovkin threw 34 more punches overall than Alvarez, but he averaged only eight power punches through the first eight rounds, according to CompuBox’s unofficial statistics. Golovkin averaged 20 power shots over the final four rounds, yet still fewer than Alvarez, who landed almost twice as many power punches overall (85-of-217 to 46-of-171).
Golovkin (42-2-1, 37 KOs) connected on more jabs than Alvarez overall (74-of-350 to 45-of-270), but the Kazakhstan native appeared hesitant to throw right hands, particularly during the first half of their fight.
“What I feel, he didn’t throw his right hand because maybe he think I’m gonna counterpunch him,” Alvarez said. “Maybe that’s why he only throw the left hand. I just did my job. It was very difficult to hit him, too, because he’s like protecting everything, you know? It’s very difficult.”
Excuses for his last two fights. Lol.

Nobody gives a fukk about them media dikk riders. This the same media that put little g ahead of Winky Wright and Roy Jones all time :mjlol:

The opinions of the fighters is what really matters. And most fighters and trainers sided with canelo. Cause fighters know it’s about who’s really doing the damage. Even his own damn trainer said they lost that’s why he got fired:mjlol:

Andre ward hit it right on the head…

Andre ward: “a lot of the media are in love with golovkin. It’s a love affair. And when you’re blinded by a love affair you can’t see objectively. If you make your name by being this rah rah guy, why did you choose not to be that guy on the biggest night of your life?:jbhmm:….there’s a reason for that. You asked for Mexican style. That’s what you called for. Your heard Roy say it. And the golovkin fans and the writers don’t wanna hear that but it’s the truth. Canelo did what y’all didn’t think he was gonna do. He stood there and gave you Mexican style. There was only one Mexican in the ring that night. And that was canelo”:wow:

Errol Spence & Derrick james: “Triple G said Mexican style and he was backing up the whole fight. Canelo stood there trying to fight and golovkin kept backing up trying to box”

Roy Jones: “The Mexican beat you Mexican style. You asked for a war and backed up the whole fight”

Sounds like those folks were saying since GGG didnt do Mexican style, that’s why he lost. Damn how the fight played out, since he didnt do what he said he was gonna do, he didnt deserve to win

I rewatched the full fight yesterday. Canelo is being honest, Golovkin was very hard to hit last Saturday. That's the truth and why he couldn't get Golovkin out of there before the 9th. You see it early with how frustrated Canelo got around round 3 or 4 I think. When Canelo gets frustrated, it shows. He's terrible at hiding it. He always turns his head and starts to walk around the ring with a :martin: face. He did it very early on in the fight, which let me know he was super frustrated. Unlike some of the other truly great great fighters, when Canelo gets frustrated he tends to check out and does just enough to cruise to victory, unless he gets lucky. It happened against Caleb plant...only difference is he eventually caught Plant and got lucky ..that doesnt happen against the elite of the elites like Golovkin.

:dead:

They did the same thing with Callum Smith and Saunders. Watch, when David gets beat, it's gonna be "he should've moved up to 175 last year, he's drained, he only had 6 weeks notice to stop doing cocaine" WHEN DOES IT END
Canelo didn't look great on Saturday. However, out of those fights you mentioned and this past one, I have yet to see any brehs in this thread or others even have the humility to say "I was wrong". I'm a fight fan, so I'm always down to dissect reasons fights didn't go the way they could have, or we can put Canelo's resume under a microscope and talk about it.

But for brehs to always have such pre-fight confidence, it's legit disappointing that "I was wrong" gets skipped before jumping to excuses, nitpicks, and talk about the next fighter that's going to do him in. It's why I hate talking fights and sports with most people. Dudes don't know how they come off when they talk aggressive and then try to save face without even acknowledging the bare minimum reality that it didn't go the way they thought or hoped.

Everybody said Canelo would win...no one picked GGG and thought he would get stopped. But Canelo looked lazy and looked like he was 40 after round 7.

The majority thought Canelo would win, but 35% of the poll picking GGG isn't insignificant
I'm a GGG fan..I let it be known I was not happy with what I saw from him. Easily the first really bad GGG fight I have ever seen. The weight, the age. Whatever he look really past it. Now Canelo clearly won this fight. But he didn't look good. He looked like he is declining big time. That bivol fight probably put more mileage on him than we think. Its worse because he is the younger man. It just made for an overall bad fight.

Both dudes looked weathered. Definitely not used to seeing GGG be that gun-shy. You're right about Canelo and Bivol too. Moving up in weight and taking shots that you can't get out of the way of while the other dude makes it look easy can be taxing physically and mentally.

Canelo is tough as hell and has a chin, but I'm a firm believer that you can get into certain fights that take something off of you no matter how strong your will is. After not looking like his normal self in this fight and then taking some time off it's going to be really interesting to see what his next move is.

And for GGG, I'd rather see him hang them up sooner than later rather than sticking around.
