Canelo Alvarez vs Erislandy Lara Aimed for July 12th PPV Date

Lara has always been solid to me, but I never saw the boxing wizard that some fans think he is.

Good fight. I think Canelo takes it close but clearly.

The thing is that even if it's not a clear win, Canelo will still get the nod. The judges won't do Lara any favors. He's gotta go above and beyond to win. shyt, Mayweather shut out Canelo, and still only got a MD.

Lara gonna have to be on his A game. Hopefully he is.

I'm not buying this yet. Canelo has fought one person since Floyd, and that was against Angulo who looked like complete shyt. That fight told me more about him then it did Canelo. He looked good, but I didn't see much different.

This is like when @Newzz tries to tell us how Maidana is a whole new fighter under Garcia, when he still looks like the same guy stylistic wise.

Maidana that fought Broner bodies Ortiz /Khan in 4 rounds, he is clearly a better fight now.

I don't want to hear you making excuses saying that Lara wasn't that good to begin with when Canelo sends him back to Bolivia

I'm not buying this yet. Canelo has fought one person since Floyd, and that was against Angulo who looked like complete shyt. That fight told me more about him then it did Canelo. He looked good, but I didn't see much different.

I wouldn't say Maidana is a whole new fighter under Garcia, but I'd go as far as to say he's more refined than he was before. He definitely uses his jab more to set up shots. Plus add the lil subtle shyt like slight feints and improved defense. If he was a B level fighter beforehand, he's prolly a B+ fighter now for sure.

Canelo is still Canelo. He just hasn't fought enough diverse styles where we can really evaluate him. Lara has, so I think that's why cats might be underestimating him a bit since we've seen more vulnerabilities. I thought Canelo lost a close one to Trout, and while I don;t think Floyd shut him out, he did lose clearly.

We all know how Saul looks against boxers (Trout, Floyd). We don't really know how Lara will fare with a boxer puncher in Canelo. The puncher he fought in Angulo has a different style than Canelo and brought less boxing acumen to the fight and Lara still had to get up twice. Remember before that fight was made, we all talked about how tailor made Perro was for dude and then Lara goes life and death. Yeah Canelo had a close fight with Trout, but the expectations were different. Mad cats thought he would duck dude and he ending up fighting him and showing the world that he at least belongs on this stage.

Canelo/Lara is 50/50 to me, but I think Canelo is better and should win. I rather him take the tough fight and prove me wrong instead of us sitting around talking about mythical match ups that should actually happen.

Sure I'll concede that he's a better fighter now, but let's not act like he's a brand new fighter. Still has many of the qualities he had before (flat footed, no head movement). He still a come forward fighter that relies heavily on his power. Let's not forget that he went life and death with Soto Karass and was getting out boxed by Josesito before the power got to Lopez

And as for Lara, You got the wrong nikka, I don't play those games

I expect Lara to win. But if Canelo wins and wins decisively, I will gladly give him all the props he deserves and eat the crow coming my way
