No...

Profanity became more acceptable in the 60's when Western Society started to get rid of the "clean image" and becoming more vulgar...

Movies became more violent and sexual...The heroes were no longer "clean cut men with impeccable morals" heroes became "broken men with twisted sense of justice" and etc...

Black Sabbath's dark themes started becoming more popular than the Beatles' "happy rolling in the sun and smelling flowers" mushy music...

It all started in the 60's...

Why is it that people act like only rappers curse in their songs? That's not even true not all rappers drop the f-bombs.

To answer the question no. Any subgenre of music that are a lot darker in nature (Death metal, Gangsta rap and so on) use profanity. It's part of the atmosphere. And like the other poster said, profanity in entertainment was becoming more and more common in the 60s.

Rakim has plenty of classics and he hardly ever cursed. KRS One, A Tribe Called Quest, and LL have classic tracks sans cursing. Nas has classic tracks ("Nas Is Like", "Got Urself A Gun", etc.) that lack cursing.

You don't have to use demonic lyrics to make angelic music, friends. :shaq:

Skyzoo doesn't curse a lot

Half of the songs on his new album have no cursing

I don't think you can be the rapper who tells everyone he doesn't curse and makes that his gimmick and still drop a classic because people will always look at you like :childplease:

but if you're dope and happen to not curse then it's whatever :ehh:
