Being a black man that has traveled domestically and internationally. I think a lot of us got some things wrong. Some of you think because we’re all over the television or radio we have high numbers but that’s not the case.

As of January 2025 we only make up 13.7 % of the population in the US. We located mainly in the south, dmv, some of the east coast, and we sprinkled in the Midwest. A lot of the FBA up north leaving because of the cost of living lower here out of 48 million fba half of it is in the south.
So when you go to places where there isn’t a large black presence you can do well in those places but you can’t really change the culture of the cities so to speak. Denver Colorado is not like Greensboro NC. A lot of us when we go to these places we want it to be like where we’re from and that’s not going to happen.

So keep that in mind when you moving to
places that doesn’t have a large black presence. You can’t really change the city you can add to it. And you can smash there women when you get on them jobs though you’re outnumbered. So are you going to be an Uncle Tom house negro or try to keep it real? Minneapolis MN ain’t Atlanta GA. So I think a lot of us gotta know what we’re doing before we venture into different parts of the country.

I live in a city that is roughly 5% black (depending on the source) and you’re right about not expecting to change the culture of a city where black people don’t even place in the top 3 races (Hispanic, white and Asian). I’ve lived here for half my life. It was a bit of a culture shock at first, but now it’s home. The black people I know here do well for the most part. I don’t think most people not from here could make it here.

I just see it all the time where a person will go move somewhere where their isn’t a large black population then come back home defeated cause it wasn’t like their home state for the most part if you a black man with yourself together you can clean up in a lot of these places.

I flirt with the possibility of venturing out to the Pacific Northwest or Mountain time states just for the fact that I love that area of the country weather wise and geographically

But I do worry about being too out of my element out there and the fact that it's the unknown to me. I already know dating wise I could cleanup big time as a young upwardly mobile black man because it ain't too many of us out that way.You're gonna be more of a rarity

I mean it’s hip hop clubs, black barbershops, salons, black businesses in all these cities where our population is small but you can’t turn Seattle WA into Baltimore MD it’s just not going to happen.
