Aren't they moving Watt around now some on the line...if so it's going to be interesting to see what happens if he and Tyron Smith lock up...

All Watt has done since he came into the league is be THE dominant defensive lineman in football and just whip the guy across from him game in, game out, play in, play out...

All Smith has done since he came into the league is be THE dominant offensive tackle in football and just whip the guy across from him game in, game out, play in, play out...

shyt probably is going to look like

I'm convinced this dude is on some Bane magic juice or some shyt. More than half of the Texans fans I know didn't even know who this dude was when he was drafted. And I find it odd a guy that is dominating on the NFL level didn't really dominate at the high school and college level.

From his wikipedia: "Playing both tight end and defensive end, Watt caught 26 passes for 400 yards and six touchdowns as a senior in 2006, while on defense registering 10 sacks, a school-record 22.5 tackles for loss, 70 total tackles, five forced fumbles, and four fumble recoveries. He was named the Woodland Conference Player of the Year, and voted to the All-Woodland Conference first team as both a tight end and defensive end. Watt was also honored as Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Athlete of the Year"

And he won awards in college too. And he's 6'5 290 pounds of muscle. Sounds pretty dominant to me.

I'm sure when the 30 for 30/A Football Life comes out about him they will play up the fact that he was undersized and unathletic and had to outwork everybody...but dude is just a naturally gifted freak of nature...

I know stars aren't everything but dude was a 2 star recruit out of high school and his biggest offers was from Wisconsin/Minnesota. Went to Central Michigan(where he played tight end) and then transferred to Wisconsin. And the biggest award he won was the Lott Trophy which isn't a pure athletic/performance award.

Do you honestly disagree that he is much more dominant on the NFL stage than he was during high school/college?

Thats definitely true. But thats true for a lot of players. He still ended up a first round pick

it sounds nuts, but some dudes just peak at a later time and just understand the game better.

JPP didnt even play much football and then had a few years where he was spectacular in the NFL.

Also, I bet Watt focusing more on the DLine and less as a TE hastened this.

That's probably due in part to the fact that he was also a hockey player and that may have taken some of his efforts away from football, and the fact that he lived in a pretty obscure area that's not exactly high on the scouts' radar.

I feel ya'll on the Reggie White love, but a more apt comparison for JJ would be

...

The last real monster 3-4 DE who broke the mold as to how the position should be played :banderas:

Anyone else remembers when he put Boomer Esiason to sleep on a crisp autumn Sunday afternoon? :mjcry: :wow:

I just came to say this. Bruce was the fukkin man!

Best player in the league and would be my MVP at this point if I had a vote. I'm sure he won't even finish in the top five at the end of the year though. :beli:
