I think RG3 is having the better year statistics wise (don't really see how you could argue otherwise), but actually WATCHING them play, Luck is the better player. Shanny deserves Coach of the Year consideration for that pistol read option offense he's running with RG3. I watched the entire game last night and not once did I see RG3 throw to a receiver that wasn't open by at least 2-3 yards. There was someone open on literally every play because the Giants had no choice but to respect the run game. Luck doesn't have that same luxury and has to force the ball downfield even when his receiver may not have great separation.
As a Fins fan, it's actually frustrating watching RG3 and Wilson have success running the read option when we have a dude who was the leading receiver on his college team and yet our OC is adamant about keeping him in the pocket and strictly making him a passer.
I think its hilarious how much these offenses upset fans and media pundits. They are run to great success, they are winning games, and it pisses fans and media types off.
The reason why WR (well only Garcon) are getting open is because of RG3's ball handling ability on play action. He is probably the best in the NFL at running a play action. Yes even better than Peyton. And when he is in a conventional drop back mode, RG3 fits the ball in tight windows. We have been seeing that all season, and yet it still pisses folks off.
I dont know why this upsets people on here so much. Its hillarious each week seeing posts like, "THIS DAMN PISTOL OFFENSE!!" and "ITS A DAMN GIMMICK!" "IT MAKES ME MAD!!"
Here is the truth, you are going to see a lot more Pistol offenses ran in the NFL because of RG3's success, just like we started seeing more WCO ran because of what the 49ers were doing.
And its funny that you are a Dolphins fan who probably talks well of Tannehill despite the fact that he is running the same offense he ran at A&M with the same coach.
I wont even talk up RG3 anymore. Ive realized people are just mad, and will stay mad. Whenever I see a post trying to discredit what RG3 is doing, im just going to post
and leave it at that.
I watched Luck stink it up against the Jets right in front of me. He made some bad throws under pressure and was fooled by coverages, like most rookies.
I wish I could see RGIII this year.
this is the irony of it all. They dont want to acknowledge Luck's fukk ups, but instead use that to prop dude up.
