You can apply to the BATF to get a license to own a silencer, but the application is expensive and so is the silencer. Your background has to be ultra clean and they are going to investigate your background.
It is really expensive unless you have thousands of dollars to throw around.

The paperwork requires a $200 dollar tax stamp far from exspensive in the gun world. Suppresors can run from $200 to 800 or even a couple of grand. Its not to hard to get one tax stamp and all for less than 1k.

Yea I know thats why I pu a range from 200 to a couple grand. My $200 suppressor does just fine for what I want it to on my .22 pistol, by allowing me to shoot it without earplugs and not have my ears ring. Still a quality pistol suppressor is easily attainble for just over a grand tax stamp included.
