Depends how we're looking at things here. If it's from the coli's narrow, condescending view of females, Carmela never cheated on Tony (she kissed a dude, had feelings for Furio, and had a relationship when she and Tony were separated) despite Tony's criminal dealings and rampant cheating. Despite issues she had with what Tony did she did end up showing that she was ride or die. No matter how done they looked, she was there when he needed her.1. No. Hell no. I'm gonna need you to explain this breh.

If we're looking at it as adults with understandings of human nature, Carmela was the foundation of the Soprano family (nuclear and criminal families). We all love Tony, but he was a truly evil, destructive dude. He make's Walt look like a chemistry teacher. In a show that was so strongly about family, Carmela personified that. Her character was portrayed perfectly with layers as well. She's always known what Tony was and did, but for the sake of preserving some warped semblance of morality, her children, and a lifestyle she had gotten used to she turned a blind eye. She was just as complicit in what Tony was doing and she knew it. She's selfish and greedy. That said, she was the glue that held both families together and easily the best wife in a drama ever.
That's all true and that's exactly why her character is so great/real, imo. The fact that she knew what she was getting into and yet wanted to play the morality card wasn't something unintentional. She's a huge hypocrite. She loved the perks of the life she chose to be a part of but not the negatives. She acts naive to preserve some semblance of innocence in the whole thing. She even hides behind her religion at times. All of those negatives, and the fact that the viewer is supposed to be aware of those negatives, is what makes her an incredible character. And in the world/culture the Soprano family is in, being a good wife/mother isn't something to be taken lightly at all. Look at Tony's mother. The mother role was a huge one that got explored throughout the whole series. They even touched on how she "sat around all day for 20 years fiddling with the AC" with her trying to do the house project and wanting to travel. Carmela is as strong a character and presence as Tony is through out the series. Skylar is just there. She's completely overpowered by Walt. There's angry Skylar, then there's silent/detached Skylar. And now there's what's our next move Skylar. When you really analyze her character there just isn't all that much there. The main beef I have with Carmella....that's makes her far worse than Skyler IMO....is she married into that life style. She knew exactly what she was getting into, years before she ever said "I do". Tony even points this out. She grew up around those kinds of people, knew all about what would be going on, including the goomahs and then decides to sit around and bytch and moan and complain about how terrible Tony is, 20 years after the fact. Then kicks Tony out of his own house, which was paid for with the maifa shyt she's whining about, but doesn't move out herself.
She's one of the worst hypocrites on TV, far worse than Skyler, who was married to a chemistry teacher for damn near 20 years, then was blind sided by him becoming a drug dealer. And yeah, Skyler fukked Ted, but let's be real here. Carmella would've fukked Furio had he not left. It's not as if she made it a point to stay away from him....he left the country.
Lastly, Carmella was a good wife but she brought nothing else to the table. She "sat around all day for 20 years fiddling with the AC", in Tony's own words. Skyler at the very least came up with a cover story, and how they'd launder their money.

Oh and one more thing. I think Walt is a far worse person than Tony Soprano. Tony was so tore up about Tracee that he had to talk to Dr. Melphi about it. He was so upset he actually beat up Ralph, who was a made man. I'd even go as far as to say that's why he killed Ralph, not Pie-Oh-My.

Nah I think Pie o My was just the last straw after the girl....not to mention he just didn't like Ralph. Plus Tony was a animal lover. You see how he was ready to snatch up Chris in the intervention when he found out Chris killed the dog. Thats besides the point though. both you and obarth on point about Carmella and Skylar.
A lot of people flirt breh. But she obviously chose that particular moment to cheat because she was looking for a reason to end their marriage due to Walt being a drug dealer. She even tells Walt that in the audio Mike took in the next episode...."if you've got a problem with it (her fukking Ted) then leave and take your drug money with you".
