Can we keep it a stack? Outside of Trilogy, The Weeknd is trash.

Kissland

those are great pieces of work

BBTM
STarboy

both have some really high highs and some really bad lows

inconsistent projects

After Hours

Doesn’t have really high peaks like the last 2 albums. Most of it is just barely above average to a plainly mediocre

the real hiphop.
I enjoyed one song off his latest album. Thought he was on the right path with "Dear Melancholy" but this new album was not my cup of tea at all. That 80's synth wave shyt is wack to me.

While i think it's universally known "Trilogy" is Peak Weeknd. Even if u dont like his latest album(Which i think is really good) We really gonna act like Kissland isn't amazing??

Everyone has their magnum opus. That doesn't mean everything else in their catalog is trash.

Usher still has yet to top Confessions. No one is gonna say outside of that everything is trash though.

However i will admit i don't really like Starboy.

"Escape from la" Is as high a peak as anything on Starboy.

Agree with all this except for After Hours. I think it’s better than Starboy and on par with BBTM

I think the problem with Starboy was that it was just too long. A lot of the songs feel like they're just there to be there. Its real value is that you'll occasionally head a song off it somehow, and say "Oh, yeah. That song." It'll probably be one of those ones in a few years where there's a wave of people saying "Actually, it wasn't as bad as people say." Feel it Coming is piff, though.

The fact that people think this is hard to understand. I don't understand, how if someone was truly a fan of his music, they could like "Wicked Games", but not "Love in the Sky", or "Professional", or "Belong to The World", the whole argument I don't really think has a basis in reality or the music, more about feelings and how they interpreted the content.

i said that a couple days ago in a different thread and got negged... they weren't fans of The Weeknd, they were fans of that sound that he first brought to the game

I can't say that the weekend fell off after Trilogy because Kissland was an incredible album in retrospect. I'll go far to say it's a classic.

BBTM was a mixbag. The singles were decent but the album cuts weren't that strong. I don't never go back to that album.

Starboy he doubled down and went all the way pop. If you subtract all the pop cuts, you're looking at a dope album. Party Monster is one of my favorite weekend cuts. That's the lane he needs to stay in when making pop songs.

Dear Melancholy was good, not great.

After Hours...the 80s synth pop sound isn't my cup of tea. I don't know whether it's good or garbage yet...I gotta sit with it more but as of now, I'm not feeling it.
