NO IT DIDN'T...
The SS was reborn as a result of many consumer’s calls for its return. The Chevy SS was brought back, as many had hoped, but despite the renewed interest and demand, became Chevy’s worst-selling model for 2014. Pinpointing the weaknesses on the SS is not easy — it is sporty and stylish, and uses a V8 engine that was formerly part of the Corvette package. Instead, it looks like consumers may have found the Impala, or any one of the other large sedans on the market more fitting.

If you want a Chevrolet SS, you’d better act now because the order books are closing in just a few days.

February is the last month to order a Chevrolet SS, reports GM Authority. Earlier this year, General Motors announced it would cease production of the SS in Australia, where it is known as the Holden VF Commodore. No replacement vehicle is planned.

The rear-drive sedan receives no special send-off for its final model year. The 2017 Chevrolet SS still comes equipped with a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that delivers 415 hp. In our First Test of the 2015 Chevrolet SS with a six-speed manual transmission, we were able to hit 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.

Losing the Chevrolet SS won’t put a major dent in the automaker’s U.S. sales. The SS was never intended to be a high-volume player in the U.S., and in 2016, only 3,013 copies were sold. That’s an increase of 4.1 percent from the previous year.

It flopped and today is the last day you can order one before they stop making them

CHEVY SS IS BEING DISCONTINUED BECAUSE OF THE PLANS TO END PRODUCTION IN AUSTRALIA SOON. FORD HAS ENDED PRODUCTION IN AUSTRALIA ALSO. THE FORD FALCON HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED WITH DECENT SALES. LABOR COSTS ARE THROUGH THE ROOF BECAUSE OF THE MINING INDUSTRY.

THE SS WAS NEVER MEANT TO DO BIG NUMBERS. THEY DON'T KEEP A SURPLUS OF THESE CARS AND PRETTY MUCH BUILD THEM AS THEY ARE ORDERED.

Exactly. The SS was always meant to be a niche car. Chevy knew they was about to eat with the 'Maro. Bringing the SS over from Australia was basically a bone they threw to the GM gear heads who wanted a RWD sedan with some power. As the price comes down you will see more of them on the road in your local hoods. Right now most of them are up in garages being used as a 2nd vehicle that some old Cac just brings out on Sundays. Car companies know what they doing. And sometimes they put a model out there knowing they gonna lose money on it, just to appease a segment of their market. The Maro did numbers, Chevy had some room to play with

Same with the G8 GT, it's a shyt load of people just waiting for the ticket to drop on them a little so they can cop.

Also brehs in the hood can't get the SS as easily as they can a Challenger RT. Chrysler financial will approve anybody, GM Financial not so much.
