LaMarcus Aldridge may be increasingly isolating himself from the rest of his teammates. First, he flew home by himself after the games in Memphis while the rest of the team flew on the charter, then he apparently gave ESPN's Chris Brxoussard a cryptic answer to a question about his future. Broussard asked him if Portland was his No. 1 choice for next season and he smiled and said, "We'll see." It's beyond dumb for Aldridge to even utter a word about free agency while his team is still playing ("No comment" is a much better response). He's done pretty well in that regard all season, making it seem as if he wants to stay here. But I've never been sold on it, since the reports last summer of his discontent in Portland. I don't think it has anything to do with a better chance to win, either. That would please him, but I think it's all about getting more attention in a bigger market. This is a guy who wants, and needs, attention. That's probably why the team has given him a plaque or an award frequently throughout the season. They've been trying to curry favor with him all along and it's been obvious even to casual fans. "What are they giving Aldridge tonight, the Moda Center?" one of them asked me a few games ago.
