He does though. 1st half was salvageable at a lot of points. They disrespected Mavs and Luka by continuing to give him favorable matchups and not doubling.
Devin Booker couldn't get past the three point line without a double being shown or a trap waiting for him. Ayton had Dwight Powell single coverage the whole game and no adjustment was made to start slowing the game down and get him easy looks. Didn't bench Paul for some reason when he wasn't giving them anything on both sides of the ball.
They didn't punish Dallas for the consistent doubling on Booker, and Dallas got away with it until the game was completely out of reach.
Fact that they came out of halftime still looking like shyt was indicative of him losing the team completely because the Mavs weren't doing anything different that was new to the series.
Ayton' has proven to not be able to consistently play hard and score in the paint. Is the indicative on Monty or on Ayton? Ayton quit on them last night.
Bookert is a dynamic scorer but he's a suspect passer so making him make decisions with the ball besides shooting is favorable to dallas. Maybe run booker off of more pindowns and screens and have him catch and shoot. When he puts it on the floor against traps and doubles his game suffers. That's something he has to work on.
They didn't punish dallas because their not a great 3pt shootin team. They're a midrange with 2 of the best midrange shooters in the league. Cam Johnson, Crowder, bridges, aren't shooters that are going to make you pay for doubles. Payne couldn't play because he couldn't guard anyone.
I somewhat agree on them coming out after half, but i put that more on CP3 than Monty. We have seen this before from Chris, his energy and effort can be felt in both a positive and negative way.
