I've seen barely any smoke for Monty Williams. I wonder why that is.

:mjpls:

He got out coached, but I can't think of what adjustments he could have made. I think Phoenix was checked out at halftime when the game was still reachable. Don't think they expected to get punched in the mouth like that and his guys didn't recover mentally.

Everyone was missing shots, and Ayton is having verbal meltdowns on the sidelines.

I stopped watching the game closely mind you, so I might not have seen hope where others did, idk.

Sure, but Monty does NOT deserve as MUCH blame as chris, book and ayton. That's my point.

He does though. 1st half was salvageable at a lot of points. They disrespected Mavs and Luka by continuing to give him favorable matchups and not doubling.

Devin Booker couldn't get past the three point line without a double being shown or a trap waiting for him. Ayton had Dwight Powell single coverage the whole game and no adjustment was made to start slowing the game down and get him easy looks. Didn't bench Paul for some reason when he wasn't giving them anything on both sides of the ball.

They didn't punish Dallas for the consistent doubling on Booker, and Dallas got away with it until the game was completely out of reach.

Fact that they came out of halftime still looking like shyt was indicative of him losing the team completely because the Mavs weren't doing anything different that was new to the series.

Ayton' has proven to not be able to consistently play hard and score in the paint. Is the indicative on Monty or on Ayton? Ayton quit on them last night.

Bookert is a dynamic scorer but he's a suspect passer so making him make decisions with the ball besides shooting is favorable to dallas. Maybe run booker off of more pindowns and screens and have him catch and shoot. When he puts it on the floor against traps and doubles his game suffers. That's something he has to work on.

They didn't punish dallas because their not a great 3pt shootin team. They're a midrange with 2 of the best midrange shooters in the league. Cam Johnson, Crowder, bridges, aren't shooters that are going to make you pay for doubles. Payne couldn't play because he couldn't guard anyone.

I somewhat agree on them coming out after half, but i put that more on CP3 than Monty. We have seen this before from Chris, his energy and effort can be felt in both a positive and negative way.

NO
I don't care if they won 60+ games, the Suns can't run this back. Not after a loss like this. No injury excuses, no ref excuses. This is the 2nd year in a row they blew a 2-0 lead.

Chris Paul has elevated the floor of the Suns, but there's a ceiling to his teams. His best chance to win a ring was last year when there were injuries everywhere. He's just not the same player now. Chris Paul only has 1 more fully guaranteed year on his deal. The Suns should be looking for the future point guard now.

The Ayton situation is also interesting. He wants a max but Monty and CP3 barely use him. Chris likes his big men to fill a certain role. If I'm Ayton, I'd go play with Cade or somewhere else that wants to use his offensive skillset.
Cam Payne is going back to China.

Suns have no player that can create his own shot after CP3 and Book.

Ayton might as well be gone. Salvage what you can from him.

I'm 50/50 on Ayton. I agree that the Suns don't utilize him very well. They use him as a screen and roll guy who would get offensive rebounds to kick it back to shooters. And that's not his game. But at the same time, he plays so SOFT sometimes
But it makes me think, is his "soft" play because he hates how Monty Williams utilizes him?

Steve nash Suns were losing to an evil version of Kobe and prime spurs at peak level. This is the worst suns team ever.

Dead ass, this loss might crater Suns fandom out here for a little bit, especially in the somewhat likely case that Ayton leaves.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't seen anyone in here ask:

Since there seems to be a little mini narrative brewing that Paul and Booker were hurt, is Anthony Davis sitting somewhere smiling? Booker had a lot of shyt to talk earlier in the season when Davis said the Lakers would've bounced the Suns last playoffs if he hadn't got hurt.
