Top 30-40, doesn't really have any classic albums, not really consistent and the things most top rappers have. But in his peak he was a monster on occasion, great songwriter a better version of Jadakiss.

Some people will never appreciate what he brought to the game

Their loss. I remember the first time I heard Ruff Ryders anthem :gladbron:

The snake, the rat, the cat, the dog, how you gonna see him when you living in the fog? :shaq:

I bought his 1st album not even b/c I liked DMX, I really didnt evn know who he was.....but b/c it had a bonus disc with LL Cool J's "The Ripper Strikes Back"....I loved that track and so I had to buy the album to get it.

It was prolly 2-3 months before I even listened to anything other than "Get At Me Dog"....but once I did, it's easily in my top 3 albums I own.

As in lack of classic material like the top 10 rappers or even top 20 rappers.
They are the only cats in peoples top 20 without any classic albums and shyt.

Many would disagree. Its dark and hell is hot is considered one.

Jadakiss is a waste of talent. We atleast saw what X could do

I know he's a mere shell of his former self but this guy was brilliant at times:

DMX - Ruff Ryders' Anthem - YouTube

Mic Geronimo - Time To Build - YouTube

ja rule - It's Murda Feat. DMX & Jay-Z - Exodus-(Proper) - YouTube

For me, It's Dark and Hell is Hot was a classic, and he had some serious joints after that too. He had an energy and grittiness that no one had brought to the game before. Plus he was getting a new sound from Swizzy, and basically put RR on his back for at least the beginning. IIRC, he is the only dude who had two #1 rap albums in the same calendar year.

What does the Coli think about D? Laughable crackhead or supernova who fell off? Any chance Gunplay falls into the same trap? I had to ask because I haven't seen his name mentioned much around here and he was one of the guys who really got me into hip hop back in the day.

And who could forget this?

k lemme think
