Critical thinking on fictional characters with multiple interpretations/versions/writers? Yeah have a ball and then act like you came to some relevant conclusion.:mjlol:
And most of those characters have a common core too, regardless of whose writing him. :comeon: Their overall behaviors and overall demeanors dont really change.

So you think every writer would come up with the same exact reaction for one character? They would all write it the same based on a character's 'common core'?
I don't. :manny:

Writers are restricted in changing a established character's overall demeanor becsuse it would be out of character. Those who do are heavily criticized by the comic comunity. You cant have Batman killing (in prime continuity), peter parker acting all broody, or Pro X adopting militant ideas without destroying the character and the values they stand for.

First you say it is RESTRICTED.
Then you say some people do it but are heavily criticized?! Which is it B?!
And I have seen Peter Parker 'brooding' when the situation calls for it.

They are restricted from making BatmAn and Spiderman like the punisher. They are restricted for makin Xavier saying fukk unity. Writers who make even subtle changes to established character's personality that isnt plot-driven would get heavily ostracized and even blackballed. A writer cant just come in and start playing god without the editors persmission or driving the plot. :comeon:

I remember back in the day (which really doesn't seem that long ago) Steel was caping for his neighborhood when he hit the scene.
And a few of the Milestone heroes as well kept it somewhat afrocentric.
Yeah, Milestone was created by black men so I could see their characters have more stories that focus within the black comunity and are black-centric.

And there is your answer.

The majority of black comic characters were created by white men who write them through a cac lens.
Their knowledge of black culture is limited to what was seen in various media. It's not like they walked up to a random brotha with questionnaire in hand.

Try reading early Power Man comics from the 70s and not cringe at some of the dialog. :snoop:
