I have been thinking about this a lot lately and it will definitely take a very long time for us to see a show made by blacks talking about our issues in the complex manner of a well written book or documentary style without no c00nery or buffonery.

We got a long way to go but I believe it could be done but may not happen in my lifetime.

I really want to see us advance from this simplified nature of over exaggerated soap opera dramas like Tyler Perry plays being posed as so called "movies".

I mean we have the cinematography part on point with veteran pro Ernest dikkerson and also Spike Lee is out there. We definitely need a lot of top notch writers to do this.

It make me very SAD when people like Mona Scott Young, Shonda Rhimes and Madea, are being touted as the best the black community has to offer in these modern times with all their basic generic subpar stuff.

yes they can and yes they have. the problem is hollywood and the higher ups wont let that shyt get shown. why you think tyler perry so successful but you dont see other good shows by black directors/writers/actors. they're out there but its hard to get out there

Plenty of talented black artists out here. Nepotism n da otha cism play big roles into certain doors not made available. It's hard enough getting into dat field (and truly be successful) as it is.

I work in da industry. Seen it first hand.

1 star just off the title.......

Here's your new title......Would the Wire and Breaking Bad be critically acclaimed if the cast was all black?

Please believe if a brother\sister wrote a brilliant show and the cast was 95% black, its not getting green-lit.....

If a brother\sister wrote a show and the cast was 95% black with lots of buck dancing and slapstick comedy, it has a better shot

You are sensitive and catching feelings dude for nothing. :stopitslime:

How about Soul Food that was on showtime in the early 2000s? Wasn't it a majority black cast that was a good show?

It wasn't filled with any c00nery, the show doesn't need to be critically acclaimed by the mainstream media.

I can't believe this guy asked if we CAN...

:snoop:

Then why we have we not done it, stop making excuses.

Showtime greenlit soul food, although they used a lot of canadian guest actors alongside american ones.

It was still a good show but not that complex like a docu or analytical book format.
