exactly how i feel. its like mixtapes have become albums over the past 10 years. i want mixtapes to be left over tracks from the album sessions.
they put the best songs on mixtapes and then the album comes and its like :beli:

rick ross is the perfect example. if he would put together the best of rich forever & GFID it woulda been contender for aoty. but now we got a good mixtape and an ok album. when it shoulda been a classic album and a whatever mixtape.

Co-motherfukking-sign @ the bolded. I was gonna mentioon that but I didnt want the Stans to come in here all  but now that you mentioned it, might as well. I felt the same way, I didnt really fukk with the "trap" songs on GFId, imagine if the good trap songs on Rich Forever were on GFID (mmg untouchable, keys to the crib, stay schemin). Same thing with 2chainz, imagine B.O.A.T.S with undastatement, turn up, riot, crack, birthday song, no lie. It would have been a waaayy better album than what was released. I was just at a party and they played Undastatemnt, everybody in there was :dj2:

We're going be saying the same thing when Meek Mill album come (real talk this nikka is killing his momentum right now, unless he got another fire single on the way). Whenever French album come out it will be the same. Sheit I aint even listen to Triple F Life and I can already tell Salute Me Or Shoot Me 4>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Triple F Life

My Pops Forever RIP
We're going be saying the same thing when Meek Mill album come (real talk this nikka is killing his momentum right now, unless he got another fire single on the way). This in particular only feels this way because an artist will have a good single out and then the album gets pushed back (only in hip-hop does this stupidity happen. What other genre other than maybe R&B do you have street singles, promo singles, 3rd, 4th, 5th singles before the album even drops etc.) Either drop the album right then and there or don't even put out a single.

That being said, buzz is the hardest thing to judge in rap nowadays. While you think Meek Mill's killing his momentum, he's actually building it up very well. Dreamchasers 2 did exactly what it was supposed to do: tide fans over while building up buzz towards his album, all while managing to get a hit single + video out of it. Just because we're not getting a deluge of singles doesn't mean he's not buzzing. He's buzzing the right way, not the way us Internet listeners.

THE GOAT's take time to craft their songs.. and make them as high quality as possible..

IF a song aint quality enough to release on retail.. it shouldnt be released

NAS
JAY
EM

quality >>> quantity

this is the BIGGEST reason why hip-hop has fallen off quality wise... .. theres NO FILTER to weed out the bullshyt..

you got all these artist releasing 50-100 songs a year... ("fast food")

you got REAL ARTIST releasing 15-30 songs evey 2-3 years ("gourmet" /"fine dining")

Real shyt..

The amount of time spent "crafting" music rarely indicates quality. Actually I'd say the opposite is probably more true
