There's gone be problems in The Big Easy around this whole event. If you going with a rapper it should have been a big name regional artist.......that's it.........and anybody from any coast that tells you different is lying right now because ain't no way they would be cool with a rapper from a different region headlining the event in their region.........

-Ain't shyt gonna happen because of this. The Superbowl's a global event & they want someone that's gonna make the world tune in. Nobody gives a fukk about regional artist performances.

-People around the world already anticipating "Not Like Us" on this stage.

The discussion around this is crazy. We are talking about the Superbowl, before Dr. Dre a couple years ago, a rapper never headlined the Superbowl halftime show EVER. It's been nice getting 5 acts in a row that represent our 'culture' but no one is entitled to have a Superbowl Halftime show.

As a wayne fan who was in high school when he was in his prime and rapping along to lollipop, ms officer, bed rock, etc wayne has issues right now and doesnt appear all that competent and appears to have drug habit issues as well, thats a liability from a business standpoint. kendrick was a smart choice and i am not a huge kendrick fan like others

Side note call me crazy but I believe Drake would have been chose if he had won the battle

Nah, but Wayne probably would have with a drake, Nicki, birdman feature or something.

But I could definitely see Wayne suddenly shooting up way higher in consideration

I genuinely don't know what that has to do with what I said lol.

He has some great recent featured verses though and seems to do well on stage.

He has tons of classics so idk what you want me to say?

Has there been performances recently to make you think he couldn't do well on stage? Any verses that make you think he can't still rap?

Everybody keeps trying to put it on Jay hating Wayne but has anybody else thought that maybe the higher-ups above Jay wanted Kendrick :mjlol: I'm sure Jay isn't the only one behind the scenes making these Superbowl Halftime decisions.

The truth is that Lil Wayne just isn't as marketable as he was back in that '2008-2013/14” timeline. It's not just about who has the most hits, etc, but rather, they want somebody they know is going to increase the ratings and viewership; Lil Wayne doesn't move the needle anymore, regardless of whether the event is in NOLA, you gotta factor in the demographics of those attending.

Black people don't make up the majority of the NFL fanbase, let alone ticket admission; Gen Z and younger Millennials would very likely rather see Kendrick perform over Wayne.

People bring up Dr. Dre, Snoop, etc but those two will always move the needle because of their personalities and the nostalgia related to their music/personas, Lil Wayne isn't as likable as people make him out to be, and while he may be a “legend” in his own right even that's debatable on the grand scheme.
