Poles seems to forget that Mahomes sat for a reason.

Bears fukked up not letting Fields be the "Alex Smith" bridge so Caleb can clean up his footwork and not pick up bad habits.
lol can you even imagine what people would be saying if justin was out there putting up these same numbers while caleb was on the bench?

what youre saying makes sense in a vacuum but this is reality.

Justin would have been running way more with the breakdowns with the line and with receivers not being open.

Caleb is much easier to contain in the pocket than Fields.

Yep. The threat of Fields taking off and running opened up passing windows and slowed down the rush a bit. With a good Oline you'd prefer a more developed Caleb however for this it would be better with Fields.

Underrated/Overlooked thing is Fields had chemistry with DJ Moore. Even despite Getsys garbage offense.

Caleb probably needed a year to really develop that rapport and improve his deep ball accuracy behind the scenes.

Its tough cause with Keenan Allen looking nearly washed I think its good you have Rome.

Real hindsight is they should have traded down so they could have acquired a 2nd round pick.

They needed an OT and WR

Orā€¦they shouldā€™ve just traded the pick for another huge haul and see what Fields could do with an O-Line and weapons besides just Moore. And if Fields didnā€™t work out, thereā€™s always a QB in every draft. I posed this question way before the draft and before Fields was traded. How many #1 picks drafted in the past 30 years have won a Super Bowl? The Manning Brothers and Stafford (who didnā€™t win until he went to a stacked team). How many have even gone to one besides the three I named? Burrow and Goff.

Nah.

Even though we've learned that Getsy really was a problem they still needed more from Fields in 2023. He needed to show more signs of being a superstar and win a few more games (crazy cause a few drops away from doing it).

Poles had to save his ass and passing on Caleb would have put him in a tough spot. Again he could have had his ake and eat it too by just keeping Fields as well. Especially since he wasn't getting the value he wanted.

Chargers kept Drew Brees despite draft Phillip Rivers He didn't have to start this year. And if Fields balls out then you got a great problem on your hand or more likely you get real value for him.

Bears have the Packers in their division and still haven't learned anything. Hell even the Vikings had the right idea to start Darnold for a year.

You make a point with Brees because I forgot he and Rivers arenā€™t that far apart in age (same difference as Fields and Williams). I was thinking from the aspect of having two young 1st round QBs competing for the job and how that could affect locker room chemistry, especially when last year, the locker room was behind Fields.
