While the Pistons are having a difficult season, I am beginning to suspect that the coaching staff may have received permission from management to secretly tank.

I can't believe the team hasn't won a single game during this losing streak. It seems like the franchise is intentionally losing to improve their draft pick. Spurs, Wizards, and other struggling teams won a game or two before returning to their losing ways.

The two teams that lost as many games in a row as the current team are the 2010-11 Cavaliers and the 2013-14 76ers. These teams intentionally lost games to secure the number one or within the top five picks in those draft classes. However, the process is different now, and no team is guaranteed the number one pick just by being the worst team. But there is still a good chance of landing in the top five.
They wouldn’t have paid Monty 78 million dollars if the goal was to tank. They woulda hired some random assistant rookie coach from another team.

I don’t think they thought this was a playoff team but they didn’t think they would be the worst team ever in year 4 of a rebuild

The bottom three teams in the league all have the same odds at the first pick. There's no need to embarrass your franchise and break the confidence of your players to stay in the bottom three.

At this point pistons have to double down and build up Monty’s staff. They ain’t getting that money back and he’s there for the next Couple of years.

How do you lose 26 games in a row :gucci:
It’s hard to comprehend. Only been done 3 previous times across the entire history of the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB and just once in a single season (the 2010-11 cavaliers who lost 10 in a row, won 1 game, and then lost 26 in a row). Do you know how many years of sports that is across baseball, hockey, and basketball that this has only previously been done once in a single season across those 3 leagues :damn:?!

Don’t tell me there’s not 1 team that wouldn’t take a flier on one of those guys.

I mean the objective is not "to take a flier" it's to trade for a good player.

Duren, Ivey, and Cade probably the only 3 players on this team that could get the Pistons something other than 2nd round picks or end of the bench players in a trade.

I mean what team is watching the Pistons be on the verge of breaking the all time consecutive loss record and telling they GM "get on the phone and get me a player from the Pistons" :pachaha:
