I thought men want/need women who know their place is at home. Who will stay at home to cook meals, clean the house, and take care of the kids. I'm sure that's all she did and that's what he wanted, but now she is lacking skills and is not well qualified to enter the job market to get work.
If anything he should at least offer to pay for her schooling so she can be suited to enter the work force, but even that will be hard for a 40+ woman.
