Nothing about having you own clothing line or label makes you authentic. Is Donald Trump authentic for owning his own real estate empire? Of course not. Success doesn't automatically translate to authenticity.

An authentic person is someone who people respect for their honesty, integrity, and/or their openness. With the Barneys issue, the lack of creativity in his lyrics, and the Samsung deal which lead to most autopiloted album Jay's recorded to date, Jay's definitely lacking in authenticity these days.

Yeah I don't see why dudes are taking this personally like the survey is about their family member...it's not saying anything about Jay's music, his business ventures or his life, just saying that some people don't think his art is authentic. I don't see the big deal cause it's not hurting his bottom line at all. If that's how they feel, that's how they feel

There are very few moguls that could be described as authentic anyway. It's almost impossible to maintain that kinda honesty and supersuccess.

Social media helps, but Jay's rarely on that stuff.

This became an unnecessary Nas vs Jay thread

Nas is doing his thing now with the business and so is Jay

The only thing of note is, is that it seemed that given the critical response to MCHG, some of the mainstream press is starting to question if he has anything to rap about but for all that talk, Magna Carta still turned out to be okay all things considered

Salute both kings

One of the writers for Forbes, Zach O'Malley Greenburg, is one of the top 10 Jigga-Stans living...he's written a Jay biography and maintains some kind of hip hop financial blog for Forbes that's pretty much a glorified Jay-Z fansite...I wouldn't be surprised if he takes this article as a personal insult and writes a response article with conflicting research of his own within the next week :pachaha:

There is a better chance of Jew-Z being an endorser for Golden Krust than there is for him to owning up to making bad judgements in terms of supporting Barneys

Interesting...

Jay getting co-signed by Oprah and the soccer moms doesn't make him as cool to their kids?

No kidding...

Young people have a natural distrust of older folks and at the end of the day Jay is a middle aged establishment artist...

It's only a matter of time till they figured out he's the old n1gga in the club vulturing youth culture to monetize his empire...

The turning point was him releasing Death of Autotune and its failure to be a "throwback jersey killing moment"..

90% of radio in 2013 was auto-tune influenced...

This n1gga is officially Tom Joyner Morning Show cruise ship status...

But there some beautiful black women on that cruise ship:whew:
