fukk Jive. UGK was hot as fish grease after Ridin' Dirty. Every feature they had from 96-99 was usually the best song on an album. The album that was supposed to drop in 98 was going to put them up there with the likes of Outkast and ATCQ.

And the list goes on.

Fukk Jive.

Let's be honest. UGK was talking about cocaine and "Feds In Town" all in their music.

AND it came true because Pimp got locked up for roughly 5 years of their prime before dying.

Looking back as an adult and with a business mind, Jive wasn't really wrong on their assumptions because UGK was always high risk.

It seems like this has to be explained all the time to some people.

Bun is most definitely an elite rapper, but Pimp was The Flavor of the group.
He was the sound, the attitude, and the spirit of what the group stood for.

Kurupt is in my personal Top 20, but Daz is Tha Dogg Pound.
When they used to do interviews and such, Daz was the talker and Kurupt used to just sit there.
(Used to. Lol) Daz solos still sound like DPG albums, Kurupt solos sound like they just put a beat on
and pick up where he left off.

R.I.P. to Magoo (PBUH)…however you felt about his voice, he rapped better than Timbaland.
But Timbaland and them beats was the main draw.
I was with you until the Kurrupt slander. I'd rather listen to Kurrupt.

Houston
nikkas in here cappin, Pimp was always the star of the group.
This right here and I'm from Houston born and raised. Real talk a lot of yall got on to UGK when Ridin Dirty dropped. People fail to realize Pimp had anthems down here. Front Back Side To Side alone certified that (Never let ho ass n***az riiiiiiiiiiiiide), along with Tell Me Something Good, Supposed To Bubble. Pimp's voice is what stood out and his thick Texas accent. No one was caring about lyrics like that. Pimp just had charisma throughout Super tight and Too Hard To Swallow. Pimp produced and did a majority of the hooks which were so damn catchy. It continued on Ridin Dirty (People sleep on his Hi-Life verse) Bun just had more confidence and stepped it up lyrically to the point that he couldn't be ignored. Bun has admitted it in this interview. Pimp was and still is the star of UGK.

Pimp C was Havoc of Mobb Deep while Bun B was Prodigy...

Pimp provided the lush, country sound while Bun was rapping his jolly behind off to not feed into the stereotype that Southern Folks couldnt rap.
