This conspiracy theory makes zero sense because the shots David Griffin sent his way are DEVASTATING. Griffin essentially cosigned the Skip Bayless/Rob Parker narrative on LeBron. No way LeBron would want something like that out there.

This was not a cover for them tampering. David Griffin's criticism is more damaging to LeBron's legacy than any "tampering" would have.

You can speak your mind and cover your ass at the same time.

Would he rather have built a team around Kyrie Irving? Or Dion Waiters? Because that’s where the shyt was headed. LeBron made that franchise championship caliber, not David Griffin.

And why is Griff whining about it not being “fun”? It’s a job. You got paid breh. :yeshrug:
Especially when a lot of those early 2010s drafts are basically one star player draft with a bunch of role players. Griff got lucky and now he riding one of the draft riches teams with some generational drafts in the pipeline.

People making a big deal out of nothing after not even attempting to read the article and get the full context behind a statement, as usual :russell: This is what Griff actually said in full:

They of course found vindication in 2016, historically overcoming a 3-1 series deficit against the 73-9 Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. The following season, however, brought that fantasy summer crashing back to reality. James’ contagious hunger to deliver a championship for Northeast Ohio dissipated. “There wasn’t a lot else for him,” Griffin says. “I don’t think he’s the same animal anymore about winning.”

Note the bolded: Griff isn't saying "Bron don't care about winning anymore, just making movies " like a coli poster. He's saying after ending the 50+ year championship drought in his hometown and securing his legacy for good after the 2016 title, Bron had nowhere to go realistically but down once the Warriors added KD, and from then on understandably wasn't as hungry competitively as he was when he first returned to Cleveland. Which is a completely reasonable observation and not at all slanderous or insulting. Take that last sentence out of context from the rest of the statement like 99% of the lazy clowns who couldn't be bothered to read the whole article and you can definitely make it seem that way tho :unimpressed:

:why:
After the 3-1 comeback, him and Kyrie’s legacies are set
Your legacy is set in stone when u retire, this whole notion that a player still in his statistical prime can just coast for the rest of his career because he has 3 rings is hilarious:russ:

If you dont have anything to prove then get ur ass off the court
:camby:

And other star players of this same era are building legitimate legacies of their own.... You think Bron can just sit on those 3 rings for the rest of his career when there are 2 other super star small forwards in the league who could match that number next year?:usure:

If Bron had 5 rings right now I'd think differently, but for all his GOAT claims he sure hasn't done much to outpace his competition in winning. Why is everybody eating in the Lebron era?

Lebrons legacy AS IS will have many holes in it that wont stand the test of time if hes doesn't win another ring. Honestly I think he needs 2 more rings to really separate himself from his contemporaries.

U make some points....he still need at least one Lakers ring to set his legacy. He chose to come to LA so it wouldn't be a good look for him to not win at least once.

And too many teams (especially that Mavs team) have ate during his era. That makes it hard to call him the GOAT. I can't blame him during the Warriors era with the 2015 Cavs injuries and adding KD to a 73-9 team but only 3 rings to end his career isn't the best look for a self proclaimed GOAT.

I'd prefer to read the article because things can get taken out of context. But maybe he was miserable because of the constant pressure of winning a championship. Some gm's prefer the rebuilding phase where it's a different type of pressure. aka you have to hit on your draft picks. Well it's not that difficult when you drafting Zion at one. To me, the constant 1 year deals didn't help. Probably felt like Lebron was never ALL IN. But yet, he wanted to constantly call the shots with personnel and I'm sure other matters.

TYRONE GA!
:mjtf: Did you not watch Jordan's Hall of Fame speech in 2009?

He's never hidden the fact he's an a$$hole. It was the media that hid his true persona so they could market him to white America. There was even a book called "The Jordan Rules" that talked about how the media in the 90s protected Jordan by not revealing the type of guy he really was.

Jordan was not fake. He just had a marketing team that controlled his image in the media during an era before social media. People just had the wrong image of Jordan in their mind because of the way the media protected him. Whenever people actually got to see Jordan for themselves (rather than the image the media created) you saw shyt like he did during the 2009 Hall of Fame speech where he showed the type of a$$hole he is.

MJ in the social media era would be :laff:
