You don't lose with a player like him on your roster. This cat is everything a fan shoukd like. Hard worker. Started from the bottom. Plays hard and is a joy to watch.

I'm a fan.

thats all fine and dandy but does he have the skill set? teams will put long athletic defenders on him because of his lack of being able to create separation. Like I said in another thread he needs to model his game after Reggie Miller and Rip Hamalton

My fellow Bahamian bredren :blessed:. I'm rooting for dude, knowing where we come from hardly anyone makes it to pro sports. I mean there's Klay and his dad but they not really rooted here.

Hield is from the Bahamas? That's awesome.
Breh.. this what he played on:wow:

This looks like the Carribean . Trust me he will be great. There's no other choice :russ:

Do you expect him to be a star??

I don't... but he is the type of player who could play a dynamic role on a winning squad.

There should be no hate towards a Buddy Hield. This guy is self made. I got love for him. You should too.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
This is the logic that scares scouts away from upperclassmen.

That's normal evaluation process though. The only reason why scouts get scared is because leaving after 1 to 2 years is the new norm. Everyone is doing it so if someone isn't there's a problem. There's always a risk when it comes to drafting players be it freshman, euro or senior.

Take Stephen Curry for instance. He arrived on the national stage after his sophomore year. He basically put up the stats Hield put up this year. But he played for a small school so there were question marks. Now he could've come out but he decided to come back. When he was drafted he got passed over by multiple teams. Nobody knew he would be this good. The difference between Hield and Curry is Curry did it for multiple years. But for all I know Hield could have a similar trajectory as Curry or he could be a journeyman.

And really, the only negative stigma upperclassmen get over one and done players is their ceiling which is dumb. It's like teams would rather draft someone with the potential to get better as opposed to someone who is a few years older. Hield got better every year and the numbers he put up this year can't be a fluke. BUT I would still reserve judgment until after the workouts. If he goes to a shytty franchise that's another story.

I compared Buddy to JJ Roddikk few months ago here. But after his performance in the tournament, I had to raise the bar. This dude got a lot of heart and can flat out play. I'd wait until the combine measurement to be clear though. He could be as good as healthy Eric Gordon/Bradley Beal if he was really 6'4.
