When i was oblivious to the effects of certain type of music etc I would've agreed with you. The sinister aspect about irresponsibly crafted music is that all music effects your subconscious brain 1st before you are consciously aware of it.
That is why certain types of rhythms and melodies are played to stir emotions etc. This is proven scientifically etc, just look into cymatics on how frequencies effect matter. So if you want to use music nefariously it can and is done. This has been know about since ancient civilizations.
