As if his opinion on the Booker/Cripple H 03 story wasn't enough...here's his focus on one of most iconic segments ever done on pro wrestling TV
In a recent edition of Something to Wrestle, Bruce Prichard discussed The Rock and Mankind’s ‘This Is Your Life’ segment on RAW in 1999, why he hated it, the idea behind the Rock ‘n’ Sock Connection, and much more. You can read his comments below.
On why he hated the ‘This is Your Life’ segment with The Rock and Mankind: “I’ve never watched it since I watched it live that night. I was so pissed off. I was pissed off at Russo, I was pissed off at Rock, I was pissed off at Foley, I was pissed off at anybody that was standing in front of me. It went 14 minutes heavy over its allotted time. Bad. Her’s the thing – OK great, after the fact, it did a great rating. But the effect it had on the rest of the television show was horrendous because now you’re having two or three-minute segments and matches are getting cut. Essentially they went two segments over. And that is probably one of my pet peeves a lot of times with writers. Ya know, Russo didn’t care. He didn’t have to rewrite it and he didn’t have to fix it. He was ‘Oh well it was great, bro.’ No, it really wasn’t great. And the after effect that it has on the rest of the show and other talent – talent are pissed off and you’re live. There’s only so much you can do. Yeah, I was pissed off at Rock, I was pissed at Mick, I was pissed at everybody. I just didn’t think it was good and it was disrespectful to the rest of the talent on the show. It was disrespectful to those of us who had to fix it.”

I like Bruce, but his stooge-to-bitter-getting-shyt-on-guy ratio is sad. He clearly only rolled up sleeves on anyone that couldn't lead him to another payday. I bet the logistics that pissed him off about the segment were traumatizing, especially if Vince took out all the frustrations on him. But dude always stayed protecting the brass, so it makes sense that something like this is something he can only hate on in the end.

Who cares if it went long, the fact is that it's one of the most iconic segments ever and it didn't hurt the product at all. I'm more annoyed at the fact that on his recent video about The Rock & Billy Gunn we have a bunch of neckbeards saying that Billy Gunn was a future heavyweight champion, and he never became one because of Rock classic God promo. BG was never a singles star and his ceiling was IC champ, but his value was always as tag team specialist.

I mean his perspective is understandable

didn't even say the segment was bad just that it was too long and fukked up his night at his job
That's a horrible silly ass take that didn't see the overall picture during a Monday Night War. Makes my skin crawl to hear him whine about his workload increasing because two performers took the brass ring and ran with it.

I read that..Billy Gunn just wasn't good enough to cut it against a MASTER on the mic who was nearly worshipped at the time. He didn't belong that high up the card...that was the proof.
