Most stories (in general) are exaggerated. With Vince though, i doubt they are as exaggerated as they seem. Dude isn’t just running a company. He’s running an insanely large conglomerate and has been wearing (or had a hand in) all hats for 30+ years
See, and that's understandable. The way some people tell (or hear) the stories, they just make him out to be some sort of kook. Being incredibly busy is a perfectly reasonable explanation.

Without them mentioning Krusty, Vince would’ve never seen the Simpsons, which means this

Would’ve never been possible :wow:

“Mike Hegstrand (Road Warrior Hawk), looking at Matt Bourne, saw him as Krusty the Clown from The Simpsons. Matt had been sitting there, and he had a cigarette dangling out of his mouth. The picture was just perfect. He had his boots halfway unlaced and was sitting in a chair. Matt kind of had a belly, and Matt could be a miserable prick. So after the match, he’s all sweaty, he’s kind of balding a little bit and his hair’s all hanging down in his face. He’s got the cigarette dangling out, and Mike just looks at him and goes ‘Krusty the Clown.’ And that was all that I could ever see going forward of Matt Bourne.”

Oliver: "Were you there at the same time when he was Doink?"
Nash: "Yeah. Well, we'd called him Krusty the Clown. Wasn't like that outfit got washed very often."

I laugh at how out of touch with pop culture Vince McMahon has always been, never saw scarface and that's why he loved the razor ramon gimmick, and thought it was the most original thing ever lmao. Curt Henning even told Scott hey look vince never heard of that movie so go in and sell that gimmick it will be brilliant.

I've always wondered how many of the "Vince is out of touch" stories are exaggerated, even slightly. Like, he's running a company so I can see him having a few pop culture blind spots. Also, now, he has age to fall back on. I think it's perfectly understandable that he (or anybody, really) didn't know who Krusty was at the time. The Simpsons was a pretty controversial show at one point, which seems quaint now. Most people had heard of it, but they only really knew it as "that show with the a$$hole kid."

Right... I'd guess he probably knew about the Simpsons, but was he sittin' at home watching it at 8pm every Sunday and seeing Krusty the Clown? Probably not. Vince has been out of touch, but something like not knowing who Krusty the Clown is isn't much of a shock. Just like Scott Hall with the Scarface thing- people forget 'Scarface' wasn't a hit movie or a big pop culture thing when it came out, that didn't happen til many many years later. I'd imagine he was way too busy to know about stuff that wasn't a HUGE deal.

Damn, Borne didn't wash the costume? And I didn't know that he reprised the role on the 15th Anniversary RAW.

That seems to be a thing with a lot of the older wrestlers. Most of these guys were always on the road and probably only had one set of ring gear. Still nasty though. I know I've heard a few stories on podcast about stinky wrestlers.

I never paid too much attention to him as a kid but looking back and after hearing the podcast I'd die laughing if one of these wrestlers took a pie in the face.
