The Cleveland Browns are expected to clean house Monday, letting go of both coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Tom Heckert, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Saturday, citing league sources.

The newspaper reported that Shurmur and Heckert either will be fired or will part ways with new Browns owner Jimmy Haslam III and CEO Joe Banner. Cleveland (5-10) wraps up its season with a road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday and is assured a last-place finish in the AFC North for the second straight year.

Shurmur's status became tenuous once Haslam took over the team and Mike Holmgren exited the organization earlier this season.

Sources told the Plain Dealer that Shurmur and Heckert both know they will be let go but have not been informed of the decision.

"Listen, I get this, and my concerns are for my team and making sure that we do all the right things during the game to give our guys the best chance to win," the 47-year-old Shurmur, 9-22 in two seasons, told the Plain Dealer. "That's where I'm at. We have not won enough football games, and I know that's the way this thing works, but in our situation I see improvement and I'll leave it at that." - Cleveland Browns to let go of coach Pat Shurmur, GM Tom Heckert, report says - ESPN

Can't really blame them. Someone summed up the Bad News Browns in one post. In a year when RG3, Luck, Tannehill, Doug Martin, Alfred Morris and Russ Wilson come out you end up with Brandon Weeden and Trent Richardson which in any other year wouldn't be that bad but this draft class has been special and they missed out again so it seems. :deadrose:

Kirk cousins and Morris BLOWING THEM OUT IN OHIO had to be the nail in the coffin :deadmanny:

:laff:

Kirk Cousins is another. Who knows? The kid was pretty underwhelming at Michigan State but he seems decent as a backup and has more potential than Weeden.

They really screwed up in this draft.. Type of shh that can set a franchise back ten years.

I thought both picks were retarded then and now. Hell....I felt Lamar Miller was the better pro potential RB last draft class, even more so than Trent

If they hire Andy Reid, at least they'll have an RB to run with in short yardage situations for once. :heh:

They could of had Tannehill who is completing close to 60% of his throws and has progressed throughout the season. In December alone he has 5TD's and no picks.

Other running-backs like Bryce Brown and David Wilson look better than Trent.

Optimistic But I Got Hands Tho

You can't be successful when your front office is cleaned out every 3 years like clock work.

Bad hires all around. Except Heckert....he did a serviceable job as GM.

It all has a domino effect. Weeden will now be on an even shorter leash next year because he will be playing for a coach and a GM that don't believe in him. :pachaha:

The Browns have talented young players...but there is no long term stability at the top.

That will keep them from contending.

Heckert wasnt there very long, seems like a 'appease the fanbase' move when this team played pretty damn well in the 2nd half of the season

Cleveland wants Heckert to stay. I'm not gonna say shyt until I see who they bring in but the new owner lost a lot fans already with the direction he's taking the team unless he brings in someone we respect
