Breh physically looks like an NFL free safety
As I told
@UpAndComing I do wish they didnt have his practicing against rando YMCA level guys. Bad habits and too slow release/lack of urgency in one on one game.
If he can figure out how to use his strength with urgency..
He’s not an NBA talent. We’ve had this conversation before. I think people that say, “Oh, if he just does this or that he’ll be fine,” don’t really understand basketball ability, aren’t real hoopers, or don’t comprehend how god gifted you have to be to in order to be a NBA player for a sustained period of time—or you need the politics behind you (e.g., glue guy, great lockeroom guy, etc). No amount of ball handling drills is going to change that. I don’t understand why he HAS to play in the NBA to the point of it being forced. shyt is incredibly weird to me.
I grew up with dudes that were better than Bronny is right now in like 7th, 8th grade. I’m not even bullshytting or hating. I’m just being honest. One of them ended up being a 5 star recruit in football and went to Miami, but he was insanely good at basketball too. shyt, in FL everybody plays basketball and football. He didn’t make it and if that dude came to your park or rec league, you’d think he was the greatest player of all-time. He’s that naturally gifted. I did go to high school with a guy that did play in the league, but he wasn’t really like that. It was more so parental politics. He didn’t excel or dominate in one phase of the game, but he was 6’8. He was a McDonald’s All American too: Damien Wilkins.
Anyways, from a technical standpoint his initial address is weird when he’s shooting from a set position/platform. He lowers the ball twice. Like, he catches the ball, lowers it, then brings it up instead of catching and coming up in one fluid motion. It’s almost imperceptible, but fortunately I have a keen basketball eye
. He’s robotic too. Like, his movement isn’t natural/fluid. This isn’t always impossible to overcome, Jason Tatum is like that as well but he’s 6’8. Bronny is athletic for sure, but basketball is really about your skill-set relative to your size. His athleticism also doesn’t fully translate into his game. It doesn’t jump off the screen nor does he play super athletic on some young Corey Magette/Westbrook shyt.
They were calling Scoot… Poot last season out in Portland at times and he has more ability than Bronny. If Bronny does become a serviceable NBA player for the longterm, he will have truly earned it because to go from being JAG in high school and college to being a contributor in the league is going to take a Herculean effort. It’s a huge chasm to cross. I hope for his sake it does happen, because the same people cheerleading now will be the same people clowning when the rocket implodes on the missile bay.
“WTF would you think you could play after averaging 4 points a game in college
!”
In my neck of the woods, at the same time I was practicing 3/4 hours everyday trying to make my hoop dreams materialize, trying to get the love Damien Wilkins got at school
, there was a dude named Ty Tyron that qualified for the PGA tour at 16. He was even in one of them Tiger Woods games, signed for hella money with Callaway. He was supposed to be that guy. The next Tiger Woods they said. He supposedly had the perfect swing and all that. Dude flamed out tremendously. He’s somewhere selling Cutco knives. He had a lot of talent too. I say all that to say, even when you have a lot of ability, when you start talking about competing at the highest levels, it’s never a sure fire thing. Bronny, unfortunately is not supremely talented, so there’s even greater uncertainty because the difficultly sliders are maxed on him. If this basketball shyt doesn’t work out, that’s fine too. I honestly think it will be harder for Bron and some of his fans to come to that realization than Bronny.
