I do like Firefly Funhouse but

TNA Broken Matt Hardy

Not only did he get himself over, he got over Brother Nero, The Broken Universe, Scarsgard the Boat, Senor Benjamin, Vanguard 1, his son Maxell, the Lake of Reincarnation, numerous catchphrases, helped develop the characters of The Decay, etc.

Probably one of the greatest runs I've seen in my lifetime. It felt organic too because people were making fun of it at first and then it became a movement.

I haven't seen The Firefly Fun House outside of gifs on here, but Broken Matt Hardy in TNA was just

I only got to know about it just as it was starting to take shape. I remember watching the trailer for Final Deletion like

They marketed the shyt out of it too. There was a little while when there were reaction videos floating around of wrestlers watching it like that added to the mystique.

The fact they gave him whole shows to just go all the way in on the fukkkery was too


The best thing about it was it used damn near all of their careers as the backstory.

Gotta go with Matt. That was as career resurgence like I've never seen. We talking about Matt Hardy here.

With Bray, everyone knew he was creative and far from done, he just had to re-tool with something fresh.

Fiend is awesome but broken Matt was some absolute unexpected shyt, done soley by him. Bray had the E machine behind him on this one from the jump.

As much as I love "Funhouse" Bray and The Fiend all props will go to Matt Hardy. Matt had a whole thread dedicated to his downward spiral life with "The L's of Matt Hardy" thread and had everyone openly mocking him. Not only did he revive his career with his world building of his "Broken Universe" with himself, his family and all the characters created for it... but he also got himself over in other promotions as well. Even though Broken Matt was a TNA wrestlers he was calling out and beefing with ROH wrestlers and getting the biggest pops over there as well. I remember when I marked out when I saw this moment with The Bucks of Youth:

Maybe I didn't see enough of it but Broken Matt never quite got over with me. It was one step too Gonzo from what I did see.

The Fiend is actually a surprisingly good old school gimmick in an era where old school gimmicks aren't supposed to work. His only problem is being received as a face - he's pretty creepy at times, works like a heel, good finisher

Matt was openly disrespected when he won the tna world title on this site. Probably had the flabbiest flattop all of time...he made one adjustment and ran with it now he is super over. Probably from now on.
