Why does the coli hate women protagonists? Arya is not even close to a mary sue...in the show this is literally what she has been training for since season 1...the snow stuff was seemingly a misdirect...plus if jon killed the NK that would be to obvious. I feel his arch is more him reluctantly accepting the throne, as he has never wanted a power of position in any manner on the show. (I do think that the NK should have laid jon out, within an inch of his life THEN raise the dead. But whatever)

If Rey kills Pap’s its whatever. Its not our story to tell. I also think papaltine is dead and we may see our first ever sith ghost, as he trains kylo.

Rey is the main protagonist and Palp might be the main antagonist. Why wouldn't she beat him in the end? :what:

This whining about female protagonists is lame.

But that said I don't even think it'll go down like that. Palpatine will probably appear as some sort of Sith Force Ghost manipulating events. I don't really expect to see him physically alive.

She hasn’t been training for shyt

Her first trainer was more of a dancer than a fighter and got his ass handed to him by a low level knight

The next time we see her training is directly in Season 5 with the Faceless men (who themselves aren’t unbeatable since Jaquen is a prisoner when we first meet him)

She kills ONE person and goes blind and trains a bit with a stick

Gets her sight back and STILL repeatedly almost gets killed by the waif

Barely manages to survive and get back to Westeros, which is the end of her training

She’s had 1 1/2 Seasons of training, B

You can say that but her character development just sucks dude plain and simple, even if she kills palpatine (if) honestly nobody cares at this point that's how bad her fukking character is and pretty much soils the plot of the movies. What makes Anakin and Luke so much more of characters you want to root for because they actually have a background, clear motivations, insurmountable challenges, to put, they match up to the scope of their story. With Rey there isn't much to feel with her, which I feel they wouldn't have as much of an issue if they fleshed her past out backwards and utilized Luke as her teacher much better.

Jon Snow is more of Mary Sue then Arya Stark is.
Dude is pretty much perfect. Good looking (Melissandre wants to smash, Khalessi, Ygritte, etc), Great fighter, Great leader, a secret Targaryean so he has strongest claim to Iron Throne, can ride Dragons and most importantly is the only character who continuously gets rewarded for not compromising his morals. Everyone else in the show get killed or punished for strictly adhering to their morals. Everyone but Jon Snow.

It would have been dope to see a 1 on 1 with the Night King and Jon Snow, it looked like it was leading up to it, as part of his arc. But in this case, 'subverting expectations' was done well imo. It would have been cooler if she was disguised as one of his generals and did it or even if Jamie Lannister did it. If Jon Snow did it, it basically confirms mary sue status.

Jon Snow is basically a shonen protagonist, he's infinitely more of a Mary Sue than Arya is.

Yeah, they ain't tryna hear you.

Everything about him screams Shonen/JRPG protagonist.

Humble beginnings, coincidentally around for all of the most important shyt, starts his arc just wanting to be a humble nobody, works his way up to being one of the most important people, learns extremely late that he's LITERALLY the most important person.

He also shook off death like nothing happened. That was some Goku downing a senzu bean ass shyt.

If anything, people need to be mad at themselves for not seeing this coming. The show prides itself on taking the opportunity to say it flipped generic plotlines on their head, and this would be a prime example. Jon didn't do shyt to train himself or prepare for any of the battles he was in. He's literally just been lucky enough to not die. The two characters who had any kind of training, prep, or growth leading to that moment we're Bran and Arya.

But about Star Wars, even though I find the character extremely corny, Rey is the main character of this trilogy. At this point, I'm not entirely sure who else would kill Palpatine if he actually comes back.

But since it's Abrams, Kylo Ren will probably off him right before he dies of Palpatine related injuries. Maybe he figures if he got away with remaking A New Hope, he might as well see about flipping Return of the Jedi.

It has nothing to do with hating female leads. It has everything to do with an agenda that was so desperate to make the force "female," they wrote a lazy story to make it happen. And shyt on the entire canon of the universe to do it. I only watched the first Disney SW and when they had her using ADVANCED force talents with NO training then taking on a trained villain in a duel??? :camby:

I never wanted to root for Anakin. :scust:

Even before becoming Darth Vader he was an a$$hole.

I'm in this thread defending Arya and calling Jon Snow a Mary Sue, so you know I have no bias against female protagonists.

But Rey is 1000% a Mary Sue. She screams shytty fanfic self-insert like that one girl from twilight or any number of young adult novels by a female author.
Luke started out as a wide eyed naive nobody, he was functionally useless for large portions of the entire first film. At the start of the second he almost died on Hoth and needed Han to rescue him, loses to Vader and loses a hand. It isn't until the third film he becomes a badass only after receiving training from Yoda the GOAT Jedi and Kenobi. Luke has the GOAT Hero's Journey rendition on film.

Anakin is the chosen one, he should have reason to be a Mary Sue but even then, in the second he loses a hand because of his cockiness and in the third he loses everything because of his fear and paranoia.

Now Rey. Don't even get me started on Rey and her absurd advancement in the Force. A Mary Sue is always the most important person in the room. Why, in the ever loving fukk, after hearing that Han died would Leia hug Rey instead of consoling Chewbacca? Why does Luke, son of the chosen one, who faced off against Vader and Palpatine say he's never experienced power like hers before? Name any character flaws that Rey has? What are her motivations? Why is she good?
Not only is she a Mary Sue, she is a disgustingly bland character. She's Jar Jar status.

The Force is never depicted as your average superpower which is mastered quickly, it takes years of training to become proficient even if you are talented.

Hopefully they explain why Leia hugged Rey instead
