Frankie Gavin insists he won't shy away from trading punches with champion Kell Brook in Saturday's IBF world welterweight title clash at the 02 Arena.

Gavin's bid to add a world title to his world amateur title is the headline act of a sumptuous Sky Sports Box Office line-up that sees Kevin Mitchell and Lee Selby bid for world titles and heavyweight sensation Anthony Joshua take on brash American Kevin Johnson.

With Gavin a supremely gifted technician and the naturally smaller man having fought at lightweight previously, many expect the challenger to try and frustrate Brook by avoiding confrontation - but the Birmingham fighter was bullish on the issue of physicality.

He told Ringside at the final press conference before the fight: "I'm hard to beat and hard to hit. When I do get hit, it's not like I'm going to fold - I'm going to come back with one of my own.

"I'm not someone who's going to shy away from pressure and power. If I get hit and it hurts I'm going to try and hurt him, simple as that. I'm not going to back down from anybody."

Brook, who is undefeated and returned from a horrific stab wound to his leg to make an impressive first defence against Jo Jo Dan in March, is favourite to have too much for Gavin - but the underdog is unfazed by public opinion and is hoping to use the low expectations to his advantage.

"It's a fantastic position to be in. Whatever happens, I'm coming out in the same situation I was in before in the fans' eyes. At the end of the day, in my eyes, I've got a lot too lose and a lot to gain.

"Sometimes I've been in fights I've been so comfortable that I've just been sitting back and enjoying it, but I won't be able to do that. Kell's a great fighter and it's going to be a daunting task but it's one I'm ready for.

"People say I've underachieved as a professional but I've had 23 fights and won six titles. I was very close in the European fight - I thought I won. If I'd have won that, this would be the next fight that people would've been saying I can win.

"Just because I lost a very close fight to Leonard Bundu, people are writing me off but this is a fight that can win. I've just got to be me and just worry about me. It's what I do."

Kell Brook said he will take Frankie Gavin's 'head off' in an all-action fight after both men successfully weighed-in for their IBF welterweight world title clash on Saturday.

The pair exchanged words as they faced off at The O2, with Gavin coming in five ounces heavier than Brook at 10st 6lbs 9oz.

Brook is a significant favourite going into his second title defence against a former British and Commonwealth champion with enormous amateur pedigree, but who has so far failed to reach his potential in the professional code. It could be a cagey spectacle, but Gavin predicted a 'war' and Brook promised a front-foot fight.

After taunting Gavin as they posed for pictures, he said: 'I was just letting him know, 'The fun time is over now, Frankie, you are in with the Special One'. He said to me, 'I am here to take your belt'. It should be a great fight. It is about us being at our best. This will be top quality boxing in the hottest division.'

A 35th straight win for Brook could yet open the door to a shot at Floyd Mayweather and a fight that would unify the welterweight titles.

But Brook said: 'You just have to keep what is front of you in your mind. Saturday is about Frankie and then we move from there. I am looking to take heads off. I want to seek and destroy.'

Gavin was unmoved by Brook's straight-talking, responding: ‘I am very confident. I am more than ready. I have no nerves yet – I might be when I walk in because this is the biggest stage in boxing. But I am not one bit scared.’

Brook's fight with Gavin is one of three world-title bouts on The O2 card.
