Saw it tonight, it was pretty good. Pace is kinda all over the place with the first half hour to 45 minutes rushing through the initial trial of Abel, then slowing down to a snail's pace once setting up the exchange. I kinda wonder how much the Coen brothers were involved in the screenplay (there's an additional writer credited) but for the most part it had a nice balance between feeling very Spielberg but also feeling very Coen brothers. Especially in some of the early parts and the dialogues you can feel that Coen magic, shades of brilliance are everywhere. Haven't been impressed by Tom Hanks in forever but he's always solid and he balanced the seriousness and the lightheartedness of the movie well too. Could've/should've left at least 15 minutes on the cutting floor, an unfortunate problem of Spielberg today (and other current directors if you ask me).
