Brian Kelly said Malik had a good week returning punts and expects him to do well on Saturday.

Yikes.

I don't understand not going for the win at the end of the game and playing for the tie...

In OT you want to get in the endzone and they were two yards out. So they would just be playing to be in the same position they were at the end of the game...

People always say hindsight but 2 yards out is 2 yards out and you have to get in the endzone usually in OT to win so why not get in the endzone from 2 yards...Kelly bytched out IMO

It was his first game and yall lost by 1.

Yall gotta relax man :dead:
Bruh... We got so lucky those muffed punts didn't turn to points. And even then... We was getting our ass beat 24-10 8 minutes into the 4th Quarter by FSU.

The team definitely in a rebuild, but the special team was horrendous to borderline unacceptable. I have more of an issue with the coaching of the entire unit. Why is a punt returner even fielding punts inside the 20s? Let it bounce. Why are we misalignment on a PAT on a game tying situation? Special teams is all about attention to detail for success.

Special Teams issues have plagued Kelly before aswell and it's usually at the worst times.

It may go away, but this shyt shouldn't been an issue in the 1st place and when we are playing Bama. I bet it'll crop back up.

At least get some looks at Javen Nicholas as returner. Don't be stubborn and double down on shyt.

You can’t really pinpoint where they failed to scored points but not us, the first drive should have been a TD but the center botched the snap and killed the whole drive, then there was the blocked FG. It’s looked like 2 evenly matched teams to me, the difference is they’re in year 3 of their regime and we were in game 1 of year one. They got better as the game went on that’s what I found encouraging

I did find that late run encouraging, but it could just be a mirage. So time will tell. The team didn't look gassed in the 2nd half either. There are a lot of good things to take away from this talent depleted Rosters, but they gotta coach better. You don't need 5 * talent to do procedurely things right at this level. Don't be fielding punts on the ten yard line.

I get they had to install a completely new offense and defense, but you can't treat special team like it's a afterthought in the SEC/South. Teams down here will make you pay for sloppy special team work.

The coaches got to do better, but I'm pretty happy that the only thing that I can honestly complain about is just special teams.

Offense and defense have clear talent issues and haven't gelled completely. I can see that they are doing the best that they can.

You right that the special teams was a mess, I was telling everyone how this game is a perfect example of how special team can lose you a game, and the thing I’m worried about is that I don’t think that will be an easy fix; I honestly don’t think that will get fixed. Offensive line was horrible but they will get better as the season goes

We never could get off the field on 3rd down, and they weren't really doing anything special or anything. We were in the wrong defense. I think the team is going to look a lot better as the season goes on.
