brian kelly ain't dancing anywhere and we probably need to change the thread title... we have florida, ole miss, alabama and it's going to be hell for the next 3 weeks, and arkansas could probably sneak in a win against us if we don't recover from the seasonal bama concussion we suffer from having to play back to back tough opponents thru october. us losing against tennessee basically gives everyone else footage on how to win against us
JD is one of those dual threat west coast QBs that would fit right into chip kelly's/oregon offense with those inside zone/outside zone reads...we need to get someone who understands how to run this because bama runs this fake hand off learned from oregon as well
the QB has to fake the hand-off to freeze the spy/safety and then have the QB or the running back run the ball and collapse the defense a couple times to open up the receivers on islands when the QB ultimately decides to throw it...urban meyer learned that from chip and they run it over at ohio state to the point that everyone else in the big 10 had to adapt or lose games...we can't afford to not fake the hand off because these backyard football/broken play quarterback draws would ultimately get him hurt.
JD doesn't go thru his read progressions very well and he can't just pre-decide every snap to throw it up to Nabers every play like the first game of the season...the QB has to distribute the ball to catch the defense off guard and not just have everyone else run routes for no reception

brian kelly has never done well against the spread...back when michigan switched to the spread offense in 2008, notre dame lost 3 straight games when michigan was pretty much terrible to the point that notre dame cancelled their yearly rivalry with michigan because BK couldn't figure out how to defend against it. notre dame is a cushy job because they can cherry pick their own (academic or religious bound) cupcake schedule while not having to join the ACC completely to face off against clemson in-conference or conference championship every year unless it's the playoffs. BK is slow to adapt to the landscape of college football because notre dame evades from playing against every football variant in high level competition outside of bowl games. this is a trial by fire and the head coach in charge has to change the scheme to the strengths of the QB and to exploit the weaknesses of the competition....outside of the 2019 season that was mostly ran by dave aranda and steve ensminger, LSU has been a place where most players squander the talents under terrible play calling, no talent development, or get double teamed every play until they get scouted to join the NFL

Football 101: Inside Zone - Weekly Spiral
Inside zone is an incredibly popular run play that’s used at every level of football. It’s simple and creates vertical movement.
