People still play hit em up and ether 20+ years laterWould have been 1 even without the suing. No diss track ever reached that level of fame or even went #1 on the billboard
"Takeover" isn't top 5 and "No Vaseline" should always be above "Hit 'Em Up" and "Ether".
Haven't actually heard Ether in forever and I only hear Hit Em Up from white people trying to be downPeople still play hit em up and ether 20+ years later
Not too sure we’ll be hearing not like us in another few years
We'll do lmao. Every song from a major artist always gets plays.People still play hit em up and ether 20+ years later

Because up until recent years only actual singles were charted. If streaming was around when Ether came out, that would probably be the song Not Like Us would be competing against to break the record.Would have been 1 even without the suing. Definitely not Ether...when Ether came out, it didn't instantly become a hit with everyone playing it, from cars to streets & clubs. You're talking about Hit Em Up, not Ether.Because up until recent years only actual singles were charted. That beef defined an era, especially Jay-Z at the top of the game being one of the biggest artists in hip hop at the time with so much going on (Roc-A-Wear, duet album with the biggest singer in R&B, hottest label), feeling that Nas was beneath him, only to have that song drop on his birthday & have him crying & blowing snot bubbles on the radio. Trust me, Ether would've been it. It probably wasn't played in clubs but it was definitely getting radio play, play in whips, the talk of the lunch table in high schools, etc.Definitely not Ether...when Ether came out, it didn't instantly become a hit with everyone playing it, from cars to streets & clubs. It still wasn't as big as you're saying, the fact Hit Em Up was much much bigger kinda proves that lol. Not taking anything away from Hit'em Up because if they had streaming in the 90's I'm sure that would've been the one Ether would've been chasing after.
It won’t be forgotten but it won’t be viewed in the same lens. It’s a childish record from the beat to the lyrics, and there’s nothing scathing about it.
The most historical disses were scathing, hard hitting records with multiple quotables. The most quotable line in Not Like Us is “say OV-Ho”
