Maybe I'm late to this realization, but holy shyt. This man's record at Summerslam is unfukkwithable.

Summerslam '89: Hart Foundation v. The Brain Busters. Classic.

Summerslam '90: Hart Foundation v. Demolition. Classic.

Summerslam '91: Bret Hart v. Mr. Perfect (c) for the IC title. Classic.

Summerslam '92: British Bulldog v. Bret Hart (c) for the IC title. Classic.

Summerslam '93: Bret Hart v. Jerry "The King" Lawler.
***Bret was supposed to wrestle Hogan for the WWF Title. Hogan pulls out because he doesn't like the finish. So instead, Bret carries corny-ass Jerry Lawler to the best feud of his career. Not a mat classic, but I'd say this is remembered as a classic angle.

Summerslam '94: Bret Hart v. Owen Hart. Classic.

The 97' match with Taker is pretty damn good too. Kinda funny there's no one who comes close to being "Mr. Summerslam".

Summerslam deserves more credit than that.

And as far as HBK, I don't know that he ever had a 6 year run of quality at Mania like Bret's Summerslam streak. His biggest WM achievements are more spread out. In fact, having a six year quality streak at any PPV, Mania or otherwise, is pretty ridiculous.

Shawn's definitive Wrestlemania run is, in my opinion, 3-4 years long.

WM X: Shawn Michaels v. Razor Ramon (c)
WM XI: Shawn Michaels v. Diesel (c)
WM XII: Shawn Michaels v. Bret Hart (c)

Now, if you want to be generous and skip the year when he bytched out of losing to Bret at 'Mania, you can tack on WM XIV: Stone Cold Steve Austin v. Shawn Michaels (c).

See now, I would push back on including Shawn Michaels v. Vince McMahon in that chronology. I don't really get why that match got as much acclaim as it did. It was a good match, but that shyt won PWI MotY and I can't understand why. It's not even the best match on that card.

To think in 93 he was supposed to face/beat Warrior and Hogan in that same year too. If only. :wow:

Because he had a damn good match with someone who WAS NOT a professional wrestler and that man was 60+. That's what made it amazing and a classic

The entire match was Vince selling. Again, that's pretty much the only way to do a boss v. wrestler match, but I think it's overblown because it's HBK at Mania.

Then again, maybe it's just me. I don't think HBK v. Ric Flair is that great of a match either. If not for the retirement angle upping the stakes and Shawn doing two big moonsault spots? Iunno. I'd agree that it's incredible of Shawn to take two old-ass men that far . . . but it's still two old-ass men.

That's pretty incredible of you think about it. Bret Hart was supposed to beat Hogan, beat Warrior, and get back a win against HBK at Mania. Three marquee matches that we were denied because of wrestlers' personality insanity.
