I had a bat like three times in college in my apt. First time I was sleep and I woke up at like 2 am with some shadow flying around my room. thought it was a bird at first but it was a bat. Ended up opening the door and it was flying thru the hallway. Finally caught it by using an old bed spread like a net. 2nd time saw one in my living room. Same apt. But I learned that f u hit the lights, they think it's day time and will perch somewhere an chill. So I did that. It went and perched and I killed it by smacking it with a broom. Third time we had a mini fridge in our front room. I opened the fridge door and it was right on the floor chillin like :manny:

I smashed that one with a broom an killed it also.

Damn, some of you are hard core. I ain't built like that.

That thing was quiet as kept, made like no sound, just darting around like a little black shadow.

I didn't call 911 btw, I googled the local animal control phone number and when I called it it was forwarded to dispatch I guess.

And I guess they changed a few years back all the regulations on dealing with rabies and Bats because some 8 year old girl woke up with one in her room, freaked and he dad ran in got it out the window. She thought she was straight and never felt it on her and went on like nothing and ended up getting rabies.

So now their protocol is 'If anyone was asleep in a room when a bat was flying around in there with no one else to see it 100% of the time, and you didn't keep the bat for testing, git a gang of shots.

I'm just watching TV and I happen to see something weird on a curtain. I'm like, what's that? I get closer and it's a bat. It's not an option to let it fly out. I don't know how it got in. I get a tennis racquet and close the door. I swat at it on the curtain and it goes nuts. It starts flying circles around the room cutting 90 degree turns on a dime. I duck low and just watch it flying. As it passes by a ceiling light, I could see through the wings. It was a skinny tiny animal. I try to swat it every time it does a pass but it is able to F-14 barrel-roll Top Gun-style it out of the way. I'm thinking, I'm not swatting fast enough. I have to do a full speed overhand serve. The ceiling is kind of low so I didn't have room to fully extend my arm so I get low so I could. It flys by and I swing fast. I hit it right in the strings and it darts like a tennis ball to the wall. DOA. No blood though. I look at it and it was small like a mouse. I'm thinking it was starving from not getting food after it got lost in our house.

I had a baby squirrel as a pet once....cutest thing ever.
My mom left him on the porch one night (she didn't approve of him), it rained really hard and he drowned or something. My mom tried to save him :to: but it was too late. I don't know why he didn't try and save himself.

:noah: I miss him so much.

Uncertain grounds
my house got a family of bats that post up around at night. we keep em around and now we have fly-less grill sessions. :ahh:

anyway, this one time, i had just ripped the bong and was going downstairs for a drink..and i heard bat sounds :ld:

so i walked over to the fireplace and turned the lights on, and literally, as soon as i turned the lights on, a bat popped his head thru the top of the fireplace since there as a small gap between the fireplace unit and the wall. started screaming immediately like right in my face :damn:

my cat came out of nowhere, sprinted behind me jumped and slapped the bat back into the fireplace. fukkin boss ass cat. then he just sat in front of the fireplace waiting for a comeback, but it didnt happen. :myman:

once, in my first house in north carolina. we'd frequently leave the doors open in the summer to let air flow through the house and one got in...

Bats are more common than you think, even in populated areas. You may not see them but they're around at night chillin all the time.
