Is this something that you've been doing for a long time? Or are you a relative newbie to GAINS, BRAH? :troll: And what was the spark?

I've been involved in strength training for just over four years now. I had just gotten back from a trip to Japan (

@Malta ), and my roommate who also went felt like the trip exposed to him how :flabbynsick: he was at the time. He was going to start Stronglift, and I told him I was interested, so we started going to the gym together. I remember the day well: April 1st, 2010; 5:30 in the morning, waiting in the freezing cold for NYSC to open.

So we kept up with the Stronglift program. Even in those beginning months, people were noticing my gains. Back in the day, everyone knew me as the skinny guy who could eat a lot and not gain weight. But that all changed once I started working out regularly. :banderas: We stayed with it until October when we both felt kind of burnt out. I started back up on a new regimen around April 2011 and I haven't looked back since. :lift:

So what got you into the fit life?

Played football in middle school, did all the optional workouts that other nikkas was too lazy to do. Got pretty buff because of it. Got to high school and said fukk football this shyt too hard on the body and so I started to run track. I was pretty fast went to regionals my sophmore year and was all set to go to state by my senior year. Pulled my hamstring during my junior year before track season but never really healed. Nikkas used to call me "Steroids" in high school cuz I was already built from the working out I did in middle school. Started lifting weights cuz i thought if I was already buff from sittin on my ass and running, I'll prolly be a hulk ass nikka if I start lifting weights. So I started lifting weights when I went to college cuz my track dreams deflated and I wanted to be a hulk ass lookin plus the gym fees was in my tuition. Went to the gym erryday, Lifting became a habit and I began to love that shyt. I ain't ran in like a year and the only time I run now is when I play pick up ball :yeshrug: but I still burn these nikkas on the fastbreak.

Freshman year of college we had a gym in the basement of one of our campus buildings. shyt was NASTY, but we went at it. I did that for like 2 years but didn't touch legs and generally just had no clue what I was doing. I stopped for like..................... 6 years :flabbynsick:, had a bike accident that kep me from being active for about a year, so once I got better I got back into it. I still didn't know what I was doing... 4 or so years later Im just now figuring it out

:patrice: It's been a mintue since I've done Stronglifts, so these numbers may not be accurate ...
Max squat = 235?
Max bench press = 220?
Max military press = 140?
Max deadlift = 235?

We also threw in inverted rows, dips, chin ups and pull ups ... my roommate used to beat me on dips, and I would get him on chin ups and pull ups

i was a lazy bum when it came to fitness most my life. i didnt get into working out until a lil' over a year ago. when i was a kid i couldnt really get into any sports i liked because i had a kidney removed when i was a baby so i wasnt allowed , so i wasnt an athletic kid. but i mostly used that as an excuse, because i could have still gotten into track or swimming or something and chose not to. i also smoked cigarette most of my life and figured that was a deterrent from working out. it was all just bullshyt excuse after excuse on my part. about a year and a half ago i gave up cigarettes and after a couple months ofg that i was just like "fukk it, i'm tired of being weak' so i joined a gym, been hittin that shyt up at leats 3 days a week since and since then the results seem very noticeable. i just wish i woulda done that alot sooner, but, better late than never i guess

Your legs exercise numbers were ok, but your upper body exercise numbers on some good shyt :salute:.
Currently I'm at:
Squat: 275
Deadlift: 300
Overhead press: 125
Bench: 210

Although I have to deload on Squat this week because I failed on my last set for a second time. I took a break from squatting to fix a problem with my knees caving in. It turned out to be that my adductors were to weak. So I sat on the machine that the ladies use to get they thighs all tight and what not and pumped out 3 x 10 on max weight for a week. shyt was low key embarassing but I didn't give a fukk. Man I was sore than a muthafukka too and it hurt to move for 2 days but that shyt helped a lot. No more knee cave and I'm fine deloading if I can work back up with proper form I'm just gonna get bigger anyways :yeshrug:.

I was 5 foot 4 120 lbs in 7th grade and 5'7 135 lbs in 8th grade. I'm 6 foot 178 lbs now. That shyt dont stunt your growth that's a myth. You can start lifting anytime you start generating those pubertal levels of testosterone and see a result.

I grew up in an athletic family, momdukes played basketball in college, my uncle has a basketball league, and we also played football and other sports as youngings. I 've always been in shape, but as I got older I wanted to put on more muscle. I lifted in college but was never really serious about it. About 10 months ago I got a membership at LA Fitness and really dedicated myself to working out and building my body. I don't take any supplements, my diet isn't the greatest, but when I go to the gym I try to give it 110%. I'm trying to be more well rounded.
