which did you read? enlighten us :mjlol:

Will to Change, won’t even bother with We Real Cool. No offense to the ancestor, but she wasn’t no clinical psychologist, doesn’t reference any Black male scholarship that addresses the same subject of Black men/patriarchy.

If you just want basic writings on different ways to express love then sure she aight, but she’s definitely overrated as fukk lol

Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind

"In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, in the expert's mind there are few"

Loved this book!

Managing Director at Breh & Breh, Inc
socrates and orunmila, two patron saints of classical philosophy - sophie oluwole
MDW NTR -jacob carruthers
Black Marxism - cedric robinson
Of Black Study - josh myers
Mapping Yoruba Networks - Dr. Kamari Maxine Clarke
Récréations géométriques d'Afrique - Lusona - Géométricale -- Paulus Gerdes
Ifá - Fela Sowande (hard to find, get an interlibrary loan from your library)
Yurugu - Marimba Ani

be careful with some of the suggestions posted in this thread, a lot of these books are very seductive to another cultural perspective that you may not want to be a part of. The book i suggested included. Try to understand what you want to gain from philosophy and look for those talking about that.

that being said of "philosophers" meaning as most people here are talking about them as cacs,
nietzche (thus spake zarathustra genealogy of morals)
wittgenstein (tractatus, philosophical investigations (if you can stomach it.)
deleuze and guattari (a thousand plateaus, anti-oedipus)

forget about them greeks/romans: Black Athena Vol 1-3 - martin bernal, then refer again back to Yurugu for a full dissection of Platonism, nietzche does this as well but Marimba does it from a more accessible, culturally relevant perspective.
socrates was cool but plato wasnt.

alot of these books you can get off the shelf/by request from @2Quik4UHoes

Start with a book that gives a general overview so you can learn about different schools of thought, Western vs Eastern, etc.

There are also good YouTube channels to help introduce you to Philosophy. With that said, Lao Tzu’s Tao Te Ching and Dostoyevsky’s Notes from the Underground come to mind for me. African philosophy is also very fascinating as well.

Read that over the holidays...Classic. Im not sure why its not more popular, especially during this "Incel" era we're in.

Frantz Fanon actually was a psychiatrist and I definitely co-signed a poster as one of the better philosophers to read. She just doesn’t come across as the “oh, she understands men just read her stuff.” that a lot of her supporters like to lazily tout her as.

Now if you can point me to her shyttin on that bum ass A-B-C 1-2-3 basic ass nikka Michael Eric Dyson (my eternal book industry opp) I might look the other way on the other shyt. :jbhmm:

It’s a very broad category-do you mean formal philosophy? Applied? Modern? Fictional (meaning it has a philosophical point of view but not treatises rather storytelling like Camus’ The Stranger?
